Overwatch Testing ‘Avoid As Teammate’ Feature

Like all games, Blizzard’s Overwatch has a bit of a toxic player problem, although to Blizzard’s credit they have been working hard to try and clamp down on it. Now it looks like Blizzard has another way of dealing with toxic players where they will allow other players to avoid them as teammates.

In an announcement by Overwatch’s director Jeff Kaplan, it appears that Blizzard is testing out an “avoid as teammate” feature for Overwatch. As the name of the feature is pretty self-explanatory, basically this allows players to mark other players that they don’t want to be paired up with in matches due to whatever reason.

However as it stands, the feature is a bit limited in the sense that players only get to avoid a maximum of two players and it will only last for seven days. Presumably this is done to test out the feature before taking it up a notch as Blizzard will probably want to see how this plays out before they tweak and improve it in the future.

It is an interesting idea although it seems that this might have the potential of making matches harder and longer to find, but like we said Blizzard will probably tweak it in the future as they see how it impacts gameplay first.

Gun Videos Are Starting To Appear On Pornhub As YouTube Clamps Down

Recently you might have heard how YouTube will be clamping down on videos related to guns, where videos that offer tutorials on modding guns will be banned, along with videos that contain links to websites that sell guns. Whether or not you are for or against guns is a debate for another day, but these new policy changes are making it hard for some creators.

So much so that it appears that gun videos are starting to make an appearance on Pornhub, where as the name of the website implies is clearly not the first destination you might think of when it comes to guns. However it seems that due to the policies of Pornhub, gun videos are allowed to be shared on the platform.

This is because Pornhub’s policy says that in terms of content that cannot be posted, users cannot “post any Content that is obscene, illegal, unlawful, defamatory, libelous, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, violate any law, or is otherwise inappropriate.” So unless the gun video violates any of the policies mentioned above, technically they have no problems existing on the platform.

Of course whether or not Pornhub will let this slide remains to be seen, but in a previous post on Reddit by Pornhub senior community manager Katie, it seems that the company might seriously explore creating a separate section of Pornhub for non-porn related videos. “We’ve joked about doing something like this in the past but now it’s becoming more and more realistic and not so crazy. We’ll see!” In the meantime Reddit is also cracking down on communities that sell firearms.

Uber Sells Its Southeast Asian Business To Its Rival Grab

Uber operates in many countries around the world, but it seems that despite it being the first of its kind, there are some markets that the company has struggled in, such as China where Uber was forced to call it quits and sell to local competitor Didi Chuxing. As you might have heard, history appears to be repeating itself as Uber is also reported to be giving up its Southeast Asia operations to another competitor, Grab.

Turns out the reports were right because it has since been confirmed that Uber will indeed be exiting the region as they will be selling their business to Grab which operates in several Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and so on. By selling their business to Grab, Uber is also expected to retain a 27.5% stake, although it is unclear as to how much this deal is said to be worth. The deal has yet to be finalized pending regulatory approval.

Also by selling off their operations to Grab, certain Uber services such as UberEats will be folded into GrabFood, which in turn will also expand to additional Southeast Asian countries in the next quarter, presumably piggybacking off the infrastructure already laid by Uber. As for Uber drivers, it seems that they might only have a couple of weeks to decide if they want to work for Grab or stop driving entirely.

According Grab’s FAQ page, Uber services in the country will continue to operate until the 8th of April, 2018, after which they have the choice to have their accounts moved to Grab and continue to drive as per usual, just under Grab.

Black Panther Is The Top-Grossing Superhero Film of All Time In The US

The difference in success of Marvel and DC movies are very glaring, where it was recently reported that Justice League is the DCEU’s lowest grossing movie, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, we’re sure that studio executives must be besides themselves because according to reports, Marvel’s Black Panther has managed to become the top-grossing superhero movie of all time in the US.

According to the numbers, Black Panther managed to pull in a whopping $630.9 million in the US to date. This is versus The Avengers which held the title when it earned Marvel and Disney a staggering $623.4 million. This follows an earlier report in which it was reported that Black Panther has managed to earn over $1 billion worldwide.

To be more specific, Black Panther has to date earned $1.237 billion worldwide, surpassing Iron Man 3 which earned $1.214 billion, and while it might have The Avengers beat in the US, worldwide The Avengers is still the biggest earner at $1.518 billion, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron which earned $1.405 billion.

That being said, we have to wonder how the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War will do. So far it seems that ticket presales have managed to blow past Black Panther, but whether or not it will surpass Black Panther or the other Avenger movies remains to be seen.

Overwatch League’s Code Of Conduct Leaked

If Blizzard hopes to make Overwatch a mainstay in the eSports scene, naturally there will need to be certain rules that are imposed on players if they’re hoping to create and maintain a positive image regarding the Overwatch competitive scene. Now it looks like we might have an idea of what kind of rules that Blizzard imposes on Overwatch League players.

This is according to a leaked hard copy of the Overwatch code of conducted that was shared by eSports broadcaster Richard Lewis. The code of conduct was originally supposed to have been shared by commissioner Nate Nanzer about two months ago, but for whatever reason it has yet to be released officially.

However assuming that this leak is the real deal, it gives us an insight into the various rules and regulations that Blizzard has for Overwatch League players. For the most part this is a rule book on what players are and aren’t allowed to do when it comes to streaming. However there are some odd rules that seem rather restrictive, such as how pro players are not allowed to directly or indirectly endorse another game that they are playing.

It also mentions how Overwatch pro players have to sort of take responsibility for their fans as well and make “reasonable efforts” towards “discouraging any commentary that could bring any Protected Entity into Disrepute”. The entire rulebook can be found here if you’re interested, but like we said as Blizzard has yet to confirm the authenticity, take it with a grain of salt for now.
