OnePlus fans are certainly looking forward to seeing what the company has up its sleeve. There have been bits and pieces of information concerning the OnePlus 6 but nothing substantial had surfaced until today. A new leak out of China on Weibo reveals some information about the OnePlus 6 specs and its price tag.
Previous rumors have suggested that the OnePlus 6 could have a notch up top and that has been reiterated by this leak. It merits mentioning here that Oppo’s latest handset also has a notch and OnePlus devices tend to be based off of that particular line given that both Oppo and OnePlus are owned by the same company.
According to the leak, the OnePlus 6 is going to feature a 6.2 inch display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor under the hood coupled with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The company might offer the device with 64GB and 128GB of storage as well.
To further cement its position as this year’s flagship killer, the OnePlus 6 might also feature a dual camera system at the back with one 12 megapixel sensor and a second 20 megapixel sensor. It hasn’t been confirmed so far how much the new handset is going to cost but the rumor mentions that the one with 256GB storage is going to be priced at $749.
None of the specs mentioned in this leak are outrageous so all of this is well within the realm of possibility. OnePlus is yet to confirm when it’s going to officially launch the OnePlus 6.

What better platform than the Game Developers Conference to launch your new virtual reality development kit? Qualcomm today announced the launch of its Snapdragon 845 processor-based virtual reality development kit. The SD845 is Qualcomm’s flagship mobile processor for this year and the VR development kit powered by it includes a standalone headset and a new software development kit or SDK.
This is a self-contained headset meaning that it doesn’t need to be hooked up to a PC to function. One doesn’t even need to use a smartphone as the display. Everything the headset needs to function is contained within the device and is meant to showcase the core features of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845-based VR system.
The new virtual reality development headset features a single 2560×1440 WQHD display which translates into a resolution of 1280×1440 per eye with a 60Hz refresh rate. It also features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
It’s optimized for room-scale six degrees of freedom with “inside-out” simultaneous localization and mapping. All of this is achieved without having to rely on any external sensors, cables or wires.
Qualcomm Adreno Foveation is another core feature of this system. Fovea refers to the tendency of our eyes to observe only the significant details in a very small center of our field of vision. The concept of foveated rendering uses this understanding to improve performance and save power while improving visual quality.
Developers will be able to get their hands on the new virtual reality development kit from Qualcomm in the second quarter of this year.

Amazon’s market value has surged considerably over the past couple of years which has not only made it one of the most valuable companies on the planet, it has also made its founder and CEO Jeff Bezos the richest person on the planet. Amazon has now passed Google, rather its parent company Alphabet, to become the second most valuable company in the United States.
This is a significant change as Google’s second position, next only to Apple that’s valued at over $889 billion, had been secure for over two years now. As of the closing bell yesterday, Alphabet’s market cap declined to $761 billion while Amazon’s surged to $768 billion. While Amazon’s stock bounced back yesterday, Alphabet’s shares fell for the third straight day.
The surging market cap has also bolstered the net worth of Jeff Bezos. He is now certifiably ahead of any other person on the planet with an estimated net worth of $130 billion. Amazon is certainly in no mood to slow down anytime soon so we can expect the company to keep pushing forward with its growth objectives. This will lead investors to further increase their trust and investments in the company.
Alphabet now sits in third place on the list of most valuable companies in the United States. It’s ahead of Microsoft which is valued at around $720 billion.

Google announced its $300 million initiative to combat fake news yesterday which was followed up with the launch of a secure VPN for journalists called Outline. It has been developed and launched by Jigsaw which is a technology incubator at Alphabet, Google’s parent company. Outline is an open source VPN that enables news organizations to provide their networks with safer access to the open internet.
Outline will enable news organizations to easily set up a corporate VPN on their own server so that they can safely connect to the internet and ensure privacy for their communications.
Many people across the globe already use VPNs to protect themselves online but they’re not all safe or reliable. Most require users to trust a third-party organization with their data and in most cases they are unware who runs the servers. Outline is different because it lets news organizations set up the VPN on their own servers. Outline also never logs users’ traffic.
News organizations can set up Outline on any cloud provider or even their own infrastructure so that they can fully own and operate their own VPN, thus eliminating the need to trust an external VPN supplier with their data. Plans start at around $5 per month.
Jigsaw does mention that Outline is an early stage product right now and that it’s going to release versions for other platforms soon.

Audible Back On Sonos Once Again
Posted in: Today's Chili
Sonos mistakenly published a blog post a couple of weeks ago announcing that Audible support had finally arrived. The company quickly took down the post and confirmed that it was working on the feature and that it would arrive soon. That day is today. Sonos has officially announced that Audible is now supported, no more take backs.
It was only a matter of time before Audible support arrived seeing as how Sonos One speakers are already compatible with Amazon Music and Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant. It made no sense for Audible to be missing from the party.
This isn’t actually the first time that Audible support is rolling out to Sonos. It used to be present before but was actually pulled about two years ago when Sonos discovered that there was incompatibility between Audible and Sonos after an update.
Sonos users will now be able to listen to audiobooks using Audible from the Sonos App and directly from the Audible app as well. To get started, users have to add Audible as a service in the Sonos app or they can just play directly from the Audible App to Sonos. While it’s not present at launch, Sonos has confirmed that support for Alexa voice control “will follow.”
In celebration of its return to Sonos, Audible is offering new subscribers two credits when they sign up for a 30-day free trial using the app. It usually offers a single credit to new subscribers. They will also get Miles Davis’ autobiography for free.
