Huawei P20 Pro Leak Reveals Triple Camera Details

A new Huawei P20 Pro leak has revealed the details about the handset’s triple camera system. Huawei has heavily been hyping up the triple camera system in its teasers for the P20 Pro and it’s certainly going to be one of the most anticipated features of its upcoming device. The Huawei P20 Pro is going to have a 40 megapixel main sensor that the company has co-developed with Leica.

This 40 megapixel sensor will reportedly be coupled with an 8 megapixel telephoto camera with hybrid zoom. The handset will be able to provide 5x magnification. This gets the main dual camera setup out of the way.

All of the leaked Huawei P20 Pro renders we have seen so far have featured a third camera below the the first two sensors. This is now said to be a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor which will also help out with depth-of-field or bokeh effects by relying on Laser Autofocus and an IR-RGB sensor.

A recently leaked Huawei P20 Pro teaser suggested that the handset might offer improved slow motion video recording functionality as well. This report claims that the device will be capable of shooting slow motion video at 960 frames per second at 720p which is the similar to what the Galaxy S9 can do.

Other specifications are said to include a 19:9 aspect ratio 6.1 inch OLED display with 1080×2240 pixel resolution and a 24 megapixel front-facing camera housed in a notch. A 4,000mAh battery may also be on board alongside Huawei’s Kirin 970 processor. The Huawei P20 Pro is expected to be priced at €900 for the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage.

Huawei is going to officially unveil the Huawei P20 lineup on March 27th in Paris.

Samsung Smart TVs To Get Roku’s Movie Channel

Roku is launching its ad-supported movie and TV channel on third-party smart TVs in the United States starting with Samsung. The Roku Channel was launched in September last year and has only been available on Roku streaming devices and TVs powered by Roku OS. That’s going to change starting this summer when the Roku Channel is released for Samsung smart TVs.

The Roku Channel is ad-supported and brings hit Hollywood movies and TV shows for free. Roku says that it’s “expected to be available on select Samsung smart TVs this summer.”

Keep in mind that the Roku Channel only offers movies and TV shows that has been licensed. The company isn’t into making original content, not yet anyway, as there have been rumors that Roku could get into original content as well at some point in the future.

It’s already a popular resource on the Roku platform, a top 20 channel in fact, and has been very well received by viewers as it gives them access to free entertainment. The Roku Channel provides all of that for free while featuring approximately half the advertising per programming hour compared to traditional linear TV, according to Roku.

We’ll know more about which Samsung smart TVs will get the Roku Channel later this year.

Apple Reportedly Ramps Up Self-Driving Car Tests

Unlike some of the other companies working on self-driving car technology, Apple hasn’t been that forthcoming with information about its plans. The company has been testing self-driving car technology on public roads in California and a new report reveals that Apple has ramped up its tests. The company actually has more permits for these tests in California than Tesla and Uber.

The Financial Times reports on figures provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles in California which reveal that Apple has permits to test 45 self-driving cars on public roads in California. It had 27 permits just a few months ago so this suggests that Apple is putting more cars on the roads.

Apple seems to be quite serious about this as it only had three permits less than a year ago. The company’s total number of permits in California is more than Tesla’s 39 and Uber’s 29 permits. However, that could likely be due to the possibility that Apple is only testing its self-driving technology in California while others have expanded their tests to different states.

It’s unlikely that Apple is doing all of this because it has intentions of being a car manufacturer, even though that rumor has been done to death over the past few years. It may be planning to sell its self-driving car technology to conventional auto manufacturers, that is if the company sees value in pursuing in this goal beyond the research stage.
