Possible New Allied Race For World Of Warcraft Uncovered

When Blizzard announced World of Warcraft’s next expansion Battle for Azeroth last year, one of the new features of the game is Allied Races. These are basically races that you can “recruit” and once you hit a certain level of reputation with them, you will be able to play as them. So far Blizzard has revealed a handful of them, but now it seems that there could be at least one more.

According to recent data uncovered by data miners, there is speculation that the Vulpera could be a new Allied Race. The Vulpera was introduced in Battle for Azeroth as a new race that will inhabit one of the islands, but it was assumed that they would be NPCs. However the data uncovered in the data mining process has revealed extensive customization options for the Vulpera, leading to speculation that Blizzard would only bother with such deep customization options only if they planned on making them playable.

Unfortunately Blizzard has yet to confirm if the Vulpera will be an Allied Race, or more importantly which faction it will belong to if they are a playable race. For the most part many in the comments have speculated that it might be an Alliance race, which for the most part makes sense given that they do seem to fit the look. In any case we guess we’ll have to wait and see if Blizzard has more details to share about Battle for Azeroth later this year.

The game is scheduled for a release in 2018 but no official release date has been set yet.

Vivo X21 UD is what the iPhone X could have been

There are two things about that iPhone X that will never stop to be controversial: its notch and its removal of any fingerprint scanner in favor of Face ID. The former was by necessity but the latter, no matter how much Apple denies it, was due to the unavailability of in-display fingerprint scanners at that time. What if Apple had … Continue reading

Android’s Instant Apps Can Now Be Used To Play Games

There are some apps that we rarely use or only need to use once, so downloading it and installing it and setting it up can be rather inefficient. This is where Google’s “Instant Apps” feature comes in handy where through a link via Google Search, users can use certain apps instantly without the need to install it.

The good news is that Google is now extending that functionality to games in the form of Google Play Instant. This is essentially the same thing like Instant Apps, except that it works for games as well. This means that gamers who want to check out the demos of certain games can do so in the same way without needing to download the entire game.

According to Google, “With all the great games available on Google Play, we want to make discovery easier and remove friction during the install process. Installing and opening a game takes time and results in many players never getting to experience your game. We’re thrilled to announce that instant apps is now available for games. This means that with a tap, players can try a game without having to download it first.”

Note many games will be compatible at the start, but it will cover some popular titles such as Clash Royale, Words with Friends 2, and Bubble Witch 3 Saga. Google notes that the feature is still in closed beta and that it expects that it will be made available more broadly later this year.

2018 iPhone Rumored To Be Offered In ‘Blush Gold’

When Apple launched their iPhones last year, it seemed like the company kind of took a step back in terms of the color options that customers could choose from. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were only offered in space grey, silver, or gold, while the iPhone X was only offered in space grey or silver.

However this year could see Apple introduce a new color option in the form of “blush gold”. This is according to a tweet by designer Benjamin Geskin who shared some alleged images of components of the 2018 iPhone in a blush gold finish. This is actually not the first time we’re hearing rumors of a gold iPhone, but Geskin’s tweet seems to suggest that the gold will be different from last year’s gold option.

Geskin also tweeted a comparison image which compared the blush gold SIM card tray to that of the other gold options Apple has released in the past, including “rose gold”. That being said it is unclear if this blush gold will be made available across all iPhone models released this year, or if it could be limited to certain models, like last year where the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were the only models to offer gold as a finish option.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now but it’s probably too early to determine if the rumors are true, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information.

World’s Largest SSD Features 100TB Of Storage

Remember last month when Samsung announced that they had started to mass produce the world’s largest SSD with 30TB worth of storage? If you’re looking for more than 30TB, Nimbus Data might have the solution for you as the company has recently unveiled the new world’s largest SSD which comes with a whopping 100TB worth of storage.

This SSD by Nimbus Data comes in the form of he ExaDrive DC100 which is built around 3D NAND flash. This allowed the company to squeeze all that data into a standard 3.5-inch form factor, meaning that you could in theory use it as a plug-and-play replacement for your computer or server if you need extra storage.

In addition to boasting that it is the world’s largest SSD, Nimbus also boasts that the device is the world’s most energy efficient SSD where it draws as little as 0.1 Watts per TB. Apparently this makes it about 80-90% lower than the competition which means that it can store more data but use less energy, making it ideal for server farms that need to be run 24/7.

According to Eric Burgener, research vice president of Storage at IDC, “The release of such a high capacity flash device that is fully compatible with HDD form factors opens up the opportunity to turbo charge big data platforms while at the same time improving reliability, significantly reducing device count, increasing data mobility, and lowering the TCO of multi-PB scale storage platforms. Devices of this class will allow flash to cost-effectively penetrate a broader set of use cases outside of tier 0 and tier 1 applications.”

Pricing and availability was not mentioned, but the company did state that it will be comparable to existing MLC SSDs.

BlackBerry & Microsoft Team Up To Make Work Phones More Secure

While security on consumer smartphones is obviously important, this is especially true when it comes to devices meant for the workplace. This is because they might contain sensitive information like pricing, contracts, upcoming secret projects, and more. This is why in the past companies would subscribe for services like BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Speaking of BlackBerry, while the company no longer makes their own hardware, they have not forgotten about software because they have announced that they will be teaming up with Microsoft in an effort to help make work phones more secure. Dubbed the BlackBerry Enterprise BRIDGE, this new service is aimed at companies in sectors like banking, healthcare, law, and governments.

According to BlackBerry, “By making Microsoft’s mobile apps seamlessly available from within BlackBerry Dynamics, enterprise users will now have a consistent experience when opening, editing, and saving a Microsoft Office 365 file such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word on any iOS or Android device.”

They add, “This enables users to work anytime, anyplace, with rich file fidelity. At the same time, corporate IT departments benefit from a greater return on their existing investments, and added assurance that their company’s data and privacy is secured to the highest standards and in compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.”

eBay’s App Uses Augmented Reality To Help You Choose The Right Box

If you’re someone who sells stuff on eBay from time to time, you know that sometimes choosing the right box size can be tricky. This is because shipping companies charge based on the size/weight of the box, meaning that if you can choose the right packaging, you could potentially save on cost there.

The good news is that eBay has recently updated its app where it will now leverage Google’s ARCore framework where it will now use augmented reality (AR) to gauge the size of the item you’re planning on shipping and suggest the right box size for it. As you can see in the image above, the app will be able to let users select from different box sizes and see how it looks like, which in turn takes out some of the guesswork involved.

According to eBay mobile head James Meeks, “By coupling Google’s ARCore platform with premiere AR technology built at eBay, we are continuing to make the selling experience more seamless. This technology is just one example of the types of innovation we’re working on to transform eBay.”

For those who are interested and have a compatible device, the updated eBay app can be downloaded via the Google Play Store. The company also stated that there are plans to extend similar functionality to the iOS version of the app using Apple’s ARKit, but no mention on when that will happen.
