It’s fun to think of what the future holds, especially in tech. Presuming you don’t have apocalyptic visions or homicidal computers in your mind. But technology, unlike fiction, doesn’t just spring up out of ideas and minds fully-formed and ready to use. They will always have roots in reality and history. Here are just some of the cool things we … Continue reading
Researchers working at the Parkes Observatory in Australia have reported that they have recorded the brightest fast radio burst (FRB) ever. The team says that the FRB had a high signal-to-noise ratio with an “orientation not very favorable for a detection of any gamma ray transient with INTEGRAL all-sky detectors.” An FRB is a millisecond burst of radio waves that … Continue reading

The other day it was reported that Konami’s Super Bomberman R will be coming to the Xbox One. This left the question of whether or not it would make its way to other platforms as well, and the good news is that it will because it looks like the game will be headed onto the PS4 and PC as well.
The PS4 and Xbox One launches of the game are expected to arrive on the 12th of June, while the PC version will arrive on the 13th of June. In addition it seems that each system will be getting its own exclusive characters. For example PlayStation gamers can expect a Ratchet & Clank bomber, while the Xbox One will be getting one based on Halo’s Master Chief. PC gamers can also look forward to a Portal-themed bomber.
Gamers who pre-order the game will also be given additional in-game goodies like the Golden Vic Viper bomber and Eight Shiny Bomberman Brothers set. Super Bomberman R was originally launched as an exclusive to the Nintendo Switch but with this release, it looks like it will be available for all platforms.
It will play like pretty much any Bomberman game, if you’re familiar with it, and will also support local multiplayer where players can gather together and play against each other.

A couple of years ago when Activision announced Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, they also announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which as the name implies is a remaster of Modern Warfare. For those who enjoyed the remaster, you might be interested to learn that Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be in the works.
This is according to a listing on Amazon Italy spotted by IGN Italia (via IGN) in which Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was listed for both the Xbox One and the PS4. It also goes on to list the game’s release date for the 30th of April which isn’t too far off, although it does seem like a weird time to be launching a game.
Activision has yet to confirm the existence of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, but given that the first remastered game was well-received, we wouldn’t be surprised if Activision were to pursue the idea of remastering more older Call of Duty games. That being said, Activision did confirm that the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops 4, will be released on the 12th of October, 2018.
If Activision is doing what they did last time, then perhaps Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be released as a bundle with the game. Either way more details about Black Ops 4 will be shared on the 17th of May, so maybe Modern Warfare 2 Remastered could be announced then as well.

Samsung’s latest smartphones aren’t cheap but it appears that if we were to look purely at the cost of materials, Samsung could be pulling in some pretty impressive profit margins. This is according to a report from TechInsights (via GSMArena) in which based on their analysis, they have concluded that the Galaxy S9+ costs $379 to build.
They have also compared this to other phones like the Note 8 which costs $369, the Galaxy S8+ which costs $343, the iPhone 8 Plus which costs $324.50, and the iPhone X which is the most expensive to build at a price of $389.50. Of course none of these prices are official since we’re sure that neither Samsung nor Apple will be publicly disclosing their costs.
However it should be noted that the price to build the phone doesn’t necessarily reflect the total cost of the Galaxy S9+. These are just prices of components, which might not necessarily be accurate either as Samsung could be getting different prices due to their relationship with their suppliers and also potential discounts on bulk orders.
Also there is the cost of marketing, R&D, salary of employees, prototyping, and more, all of which is usually accounted for in the final pricing of a product. This means that the Galaxy S9+ probably costs more than $379, but if you’re just looking for a rough figure, $379 is a good place to start.

Microtransactions and in-game purchases are a revenue model that publishers and developers will not be abandoning anytime soon. This is because this allows companies to continue making money from games after they’ve sold it, and according to GameSpot, Ubisoft has confirmed that the upcoming Far Cry 5 will have microtransactions.
According to the game’s executive producer Dan Hay, Ubisoft will be “generous” in terms of what the game will offer. However gamers who have money to spend or who can’t be bothered to grind their way to the end, microtransactions can help speed things along. However to avoid having the game labelled as pay-to-win, Hay stresses that nothing will be locked behind microtransactions and that everything can be earned if players don’t want to pay for it.
Hay said, “We’ve set the game up to be generous. We’ve set the game up so…nothing is locked [away]. You can go out and explore, and the game will reward you for your exploration.” Ubisoft also confirms that microtransactions are for cosmetic items only, and do not affect gameplay. This sounds similar to what Ubisoft did for Assassin’s Creed through “Time Saver Packs”.
In addition to confirming microtransactions, Ubisoft also stated that the game’s full campaign can be played offline. This means that if you find yourself without internet, not to worry as you’ll be able to enjoy the full campaign offline. Far Cry 5 is scheduled for a launch on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC come March 27.

Much to the delight of many gamers, Nintendo confirmed a couple of weeks ago that Super Smash Bros. will be headed onto the Switch later this year. The company did not mention any specific dates, but regardless it appears that Amazon is more than happy to start taking your money.
Amazon US, Amazon UK, and Amazon Germany appear to be taking pre-orders for the upcoming game. According to their listings, they have put a release date for the 31st of December, 2018 which is clearly a placeholder. Nintendo themselves did not mention a release date but we guess if you don’t mind pre-ordering this early on, you can go ahead and do so.
In addition to not mentioning when the game will be released, Nintendo also stayed mum on the details about the game. Previously it was rumored that the game could be a port of the Wii U version of the game, except that it will feature some new content similar to what Nintendo did with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
However what we do know based on the trailer is that the game will feature new characters from Splatoon. Whether or not these are the only characters remains to be seen, but their addition to the roster has been pretty much confirmed.
