Last year Nintendo announced a new Kirby game for the Nintendo Switch and if this sounds like something you might be interested in, you’ll be pleased to learn that Kirby Star Allies has officially launched for the Switch and is now available for purchase and also for play where it will cost gamers $60.
For those unfamiliar, Kirby Star Allies is the latest in the Kirby franchise by Nintendo. The game appears to be rather straightforward and we guess if we had to compare it to more modern titles, Cuphead would be a good example. The game will allow players to meet “friends” in the game who will join your party.
Also given Kirby’s ability to copy/steal powers of other characters, these party members also acts as a way for gamers to change up their skills as and when needed. Naturally given that this is a Nintendo game, there will be support for multiplayer where players can play together locally. There will also be support for amiibos where gamers can earn additional illustration pieces when pairing the amiibo with the game.
That being said unlike Cuphead, reviews have found that Kirby Star Allies isn’t exactly the most challenging of games which is more or less in line with previous Kirby releases. This means if you wanted something really challenging you might be disappointed, but if you’re looking for something lighthearted and fun, especially if you’re looking for something to play with your kids or younger siblings, Kirby Star Allies could be worth checking out.

When headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive were first launched, one of the criticisms that they received was that the headsets required them to be tethered to a computer. This meant that mobility was kind of out the window, although companies like HTC have since done something about it.
HTC isn’t alone either because last October, Facebook unveiled the Oculus Go, a standalone virtual reality (VR) headset. However the company did not mention when the headset would be made available save for some time in 2018, but we might have a date now thanks to a report from Variety whose sources have told them that it could be launched in May.
The report claims that Facebook plans on officially launching the headset at its F8 developer conference which is scheduled to take place on the 1st of May. We’re not sure if Facebook plans on putting it up for pre-order then or if they’re planning on selling it on the day itself, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
For those learning about the Oculus Go for the first time, this is a standalone VR headset that costs less than the regular Oculus Rift. It will also be powered by the same software that Samsung’s Gear VR headset uses, which means that it should launch with the same access to the games and apps that the Gear VR has.

Apple has many product categories, ranging from computers, wearables, smartphones, tablets, software, and so on. However it seems that for 2018, it could very well be the year for Apple’s MacBook laptops because according to StreetInsider, MacBook sales are expected to grow in the double digits for 2018.
This is based on KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who appears to be pretty positive about the outlook on Apple’s MacBook lineup, where he predicts that the laptops could see a 13-16% growth in 2018. This is versus other products like the iPhone which he thinks will grow by 4-6%, while the iPad will grow by 7-10%.
We have been hearing rumors that Apple could have a new MacBook Air in the works. This is said to be a lower-end model but still sport a Retina display, which means that customers who can’t afford to shell out for the more expensive MacBook Pros will be able to pick this MacBook Air as a potentially more affordable alternative.
This could help drive the growth that Kuo is predicting, although whether or not that it is true remains to be seen. It has also been reported that the MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar are seeing an increase in weighting in terms of shipments, which is a good sign as these are essentially Apple’s most expensive MacBooks. This indicates that despite the price, there is still a demand for them.

Having launched on iPhones, just last month Microsoft announced that its Edge browser would soon be coming to iPads. The good news is that it looks like we’re one step closer to seeing a full release because it appears that the beta for Edge on the iPad is now available where if you’re part of the beta, you can take it for a spin.
To be chosen to be part of the beta, you will have to sign up with Microsoft as a beta tester, after which the app can be downloaded via Apple’s TestFlight app, which for those unfamiliar is where developers can launch beta versions of their app to allow select users to test. That being said if you’re not part of the beta, not to worry as we expect that it shouldn’t be too long before its final release.
The iPad version of Edge is said to be similar to the iPhone version, except that it has been optimized for tablets. However it should be noted that there are some features that it doesn’t support yet, such as iOS 11’s split-screen multitasking functionality, so if you’re someone who is planning on using the iPad as a laptop replacement, perhaps Edge might not be the browser for you just yet.
There is also no tab sync yet, although Microsoft did promise that this would be a feature so perhaps it will come at a later date, but core features like being able to pick up where you left off, like pushing content from the iPad to your PC, will be there, along with light and dark themes.
