Hindi is the national language of India, a country with more than a billion people and countless regional languages. Google has long received requests to enable users to speak to Google Assistant in Hindi and that’s something that they can finally do starting today. Google has finally made it possible to talk to Google Assistant in Hindi.
Google actually enabled Hindi support for its virtual assistant earlier this year but at that point in time, it could only answer select queries. Now, though, the full Google Assistant in Hindi experience is rolling out thus enabling users to conversate with the assistant in this language.
Users can now access all of the features that Assistant offers by giving it voice commands in Hindi. They can have it search for directions to the nearest coffee shop or tell them whether or not their favorite team won the cricket match, and a lot more. Google Assistant isn’t just capable of understanding queries in Hindi, it’s also capable of replying to those queries in Hindi as well.
“The Google Assistant is truly Indian, it’s your helpful dost that speaks our language and understands the things you care about, from finding biryani recipes, to pulling up the latest cricket score, or finding directions to the nearest ATM,” said Google Assistant technical program manager Purvi Shah.
Google Assistant in Hindi is available on devices running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and up. It will soon arrive on devices running Lollipop as well as on Android Go phones and iPhones.

You wouldn’t really expect to find superstar Drake on a gaming streaming website like Twitch but in the odd event that he does appear on the platform out of the blue, you can expect word to spread about that like wildfire. That’s precisely what happened yesterday when Drake joined pro-gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, JuJu Smith-Schuster and rapper Travis Scott to play sandbox shooter Fortnite. This resulted in the record for the most-viewed stream on Twitch by a single player being broken.
The stream had Ninja playing a few Fortnite matches with Drake before all four of them teamed up to play the game. The stream ended up trending on Twitter, because that’s just the kind of star power that Drake begins, and at one point had more than 630,000 people watching the stream at the same time. “Drake said he had to pack for a flight tomorrow so he’s out… We literally made history tonight,” said Ninja after the gameplay ended, and who can argue, they really did.
The record for the most-viewed stream on Twitch has been broken by quite some margin as it was previously at 388,000 viewers for a single-player stream.
Just like all game streams, there was mindless conversation during the gameplay as well, which involved Drake giving us his thoughts on pineapple toppings for a pizza and how he thinks that Fortnite developers should be focusing more on improving existing maps instead of creating new ones.

Amazon doesn’t make the viewership numbers for its Prime Video content public so it’s difficult to ascertain the popularity of the content market-wise. However, Reuters has obtained internal documents which reveal that more than 26 million people in the United States watch content on Amazon Prime Video. Its top TV shows brought in more than five million people worldwide to its subscription-based Prime shopping service in early 2017. The documents suggest that Amazon’s hefty investments in original content seem to be paying off.
The documents also reveal that the audience size in the United States for all video content on Prime, which includes films and TV shows licensed from other companies, is around 26 million. Amazon has never officially revealed viewership numbers for Amazon Prime.
Amazon continues to pour more money into its content ambitions. It’s going to spend $5 billion on original and licensed content every year. It views this is a great way to bring in more customers for its online retail marketplace, a strategy that was simply explained by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos at a technology conference a couple of years ago that “When we win a Golden Globe, it helps us sell more shoes.”
Amazon has not officially commented on any of the figures mentioned in this report and it’s unlikely that it will do so because that’s just something that Amazon doesn’t do.

Lenovo introduced the world’s first standalone Daydream VR headset at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in January. It brought to life the idea of a VR headset that doesn’t require a smartphone or any cables to function. While it has its own internal specifications, it’s based on Google’s Daydream platform. If you were interested in picking one up back then, then time to open your wallets because Lenovo is now taking pre-orders for the Mirage Solo.
The Lenovo Mirage Solo has a Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded up to 256GB through a microSD card. There’s also a 4,000mAh battery.
The VR experience is powered by a 5.5 inch 2560 x 1440 LCD display with a 75Hz refresh rate. With all of its internals, the headset has a weight of 1.42lbs so it’s not overly heavy. With the headset on, users will be able to move around the room freely with a 100 degree field of view.
B&H Photo has now listed the Mirage Solo headset as available for pre-order. It costs $399.99 and will be shipped on May 11th. That’s the first Friday after Google’s I/O 2018 conference and it’s likely that we’ll get to hear about the Mirage Solo during those days.
Lenovo also launched its VR180 Camera at CES 2018. The camera enables users to shoot immersive 3D video and photos. The VR180 is also up for pre-order at B&H Photo for $299.99 and begin shipping on May 11th as well.
