AT&T LG V30 Oreo Update Brings ThinQ Features
Posted in: Uncategorized
With Sprint and Verizon rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V30, it was only a matter of time before AT&T joined the fray as well. The country’s second largest mobile carrier is now rolling out Oreo for the LG V30. The update brings the new ThinQ branding from LG as well as some of the new features that the company announced not too long ago.
Some of the users who have already received this software update report that it comes in at 1.8GB and features the latest March 2018 security maintenance release.
One user points out that the boot screen shows “V30 ThinQ” after the update is installed and that the new features such as LG’s AI CAM are included in this update. LG introduced its ThinQ branding with the LG V30S that it launched last month. It’s a revamped version of the handset with AI features.
AT&T is gradually rolling out the update for the LG V30 on its network. It may take a couple of days for the update to go live for all users. LG V30 owners on AT&T can try to manually download the update by navigating to the Software update menu in the Settings app.

Samsung is due to launch a new flagship smartphone in the second half of this year. We’ve already started seeing a lot of rumors and reports about the Galaxy Note 9 and are bound to see more in the days to come. Samsung also appears to be laying the groundwork for the launch of its next flagship as the handset’s model number has been spotted in a listing on several country-specific Samsung websites.
The Galaxy Note 9 will have the model number SM-N960U and listings which include this model number have now been spotted on several Samsung websites. This particular model number will be assigned to the variant that’s going to be released in the United States going by Samsung’s model classification system.
The listing doesn’t confirm much about the actual device itself but recent reports suggest that it’s going to feature a 6.3 inch OLED display with a Snapdragon 845 processor and 6GB of RAM. It may also feature a dual camera system at the back and a repositioned fingerprint sensor. However, some reports even claim that Samsung is yet to decide whether or not it will introduce an in-display fingerprint sensor with the Galaxy Note 9.
Samsung hasn’t revealed much information about the Galaxy Note 9 at this point in time and we can’t really expect it to before the handset’s official announcement which is likely going to take place in August this year, if history is any indication.

Samsung’s flagship handsets have had FM radio support for years but the chips were usually locked down which meant that they couldn’t be used to access local radio stations. Samsung had confirmed not too long ago that it would partner with NextRadio to enable the functionality and while it works just fine on carrier-branded units, those who own an unlocked Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ in the United States are unable to use the FM radio feature. It has now been confirmed that the unlocked variants will soon receive support for this feature as well.
Many would have expected the FM radio feature to be usable in the unlocked variants as well given that it works just fine on the carrier-branded variants. That’s not the case, though, and you can use it right now on an unlocked device.
It turns out that a software issue in the unlocked variant is preventing the handsets from the accessing the FM radio chip. Until it’s resolved, users won’t be able to listen to FM radio using their smartphones. The issue is due to the fact that Samsung mistakenly didn’t add the NAB FM API to unlocked devices. The model numbers that currently do not work for FM are SM-G960UI and SM-G965UI.
They may not have to wait for long, though, because NextRadio has confirmed that a firmware update will be released soon that’s going to fix this issue.
