A rumor from earlier this month suggested that Apple could be getting ready to launch a new MacBook Air. This new MacBook Air is said to offer a lower price tag, but apart from that not much else is known. However according to a report from DigiTimes (via MacRumors), more details have emerged.
The details in question is with regards to the laptop’s display, in which apparently it will sport a Retina display. However what’s interesting is that DigiTimes is referring to the computer as the “MacBook”, not the MacBook Air. However its display size which is 13.3-inches does suggest that it would be of the MacBook Air variety, unless of course Apple is planning on introducing a 13.3-inch MacBook, which would actually make it more expensive and not cheaper.
DigiTimes is also claiming that the laptop will cost the same as the current MacBook Air, which is priced at $999, or possibly higher, and that its display resolution will be similar to Apple’s 13.3-inch MacBook Pro, which is at 2,560-x1,600. DigiTimes doesn’t necessarily have the best track record so take it with a grain of salt for now.
However Apple does love to market its Retina displays so it would be odd that the new MacBook Air would sport anything less, but we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Until then take it with a grain of salt.
