Motorola Reassures Customers That Its Moto Z Lineup Is Safe

Recently there was a report that Motorola would be killing off its Moto X lineup and laying off about 50% of its workforce in Chicago. Naturally this led to some questioning the company’s future and the future of some of its products. However the good news is that if you do enjoy Motorola’s flagship Moto Z lineup, it seems that the Moto Z is safe.

In a statement released to Engadget, a Motorola spokesperson refuted some of the rumors of the Moto Z’s cancellation by saying, “In late 2017, Lenovo announced a worldwide resource action that would occur over the next several quarters, and impacting less than two percent of its global workforce.”

They add, “This week’s employment reductions are a continuation of that process. We are reducing our Motorola operations in Chicago however this did not impact half of our workforce there and our Moto Z family will continue.” This actually makes sense because a recent leak suggested that Motorola could have a new Moto Mod for the Moto Z in the form of a virtual reality headset, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to cancel the handset.

In any case we suppose only time will tell what will become of Motorola’s handsets, like the Moto G and Moto E series, but given that those lineups are pretty popular amongst the budget-conscious consumer, it seems that they’ll be sticking around.

Facebook Finalizes Licensing Deal With Warner Music

Have you ever come across a video on YouTube that has its sound muted? This is because these videos use material, such as songs or snippets of videos that are copyrighted. However the good news for Facebook users who are looking to upload original content is that it looks like Facebook won’t be going through the same issues.

In an announcement by Warner Music Group, they have entered into a licensing deal with Facebook. This means that users who upload their own videos that contain music from Warner artists won’t get flagged. The deal with Warner also marks Facebook’s successful signing with all the major music labels, where previously Facebook had entered in deals with Sony and Universal.

According to Eric Mackay, EVP, Global Digital Strategy, Warner/Chappell, “We’ve taken our time to arrive at the best possible deal, one that recognises the value that music creates on social networks, while empowering our songwriters to reach audiences around the world, in a way that will spark creativity and conversation among their fans. Our incredible catalogue of songs will be represented throughout Facebook’s platforms and we’re excited to work together to create new opportunities for both our songwriters and Facebook’s users.”

Of course not all artists are represented yet, but given that Facebook has signed with all the major labels, there’s a good chance that most will be covered.

Google Contacts can send money via Google Pay Send

Google Pay Send isn’t the catchiest name for a product, but don’t knock it simply for its name.
