When Samsung boasted that the Galaxy S9 reimagined the camera, it wasn’t actually referring to a completely new image sensor, though that has been upgraded, too. DRAM on (or rather, under) the image sensor is something Sony already did last year. It was, in fact, the dual aperture feature that gave the early 2018 flagship its unique flavor. iFixit tears … Continue reading
Twitter hasn’t scored a major sports livestreaming deal in a long while, but that drought is over. Variety has learned that the social network has struck a 3-year deal with Major League Soccer that will give it a selection of weekly video, including…
As an adult, some of us probably have a hard time tearing ourselves away from the TV or computer screen, so as you can imagine, it will probably be harder for kids who might have even less obligations and commitments or self-control. Unfortunately for parents, it looks like Netflix is about to make it even harder.
A report from Variety has revealed that Netflix is testing a way to gameify the watching experience for kids. These come in the form of “Patches” (which sounds like it could be similar to badges) where they act as an achievement of sorts for watching shows. It is unclear as to how this will work, but Netflix has since confirmed that they are testing out the feature.

According to the company, “We are testing a new feature on select kids titles that introduces collectible items for a more interactive experience, adding an element of fun and providing kids something to talk about and share around the titles they love. We learn by testing and this feature may or may not become part of the Netflix experience.”
However like we said, the downside to this is that it could encourage kids to binge watch and spend more time in front of the TV, more than parents would approve of. The upside, at least for Netflix, is potentially more engagement by its viewers. In any case since the feature is in testing, it is unclear as to whether or not the feature will actually be implemented, but we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime what do you guys think of the feature? Good idea?
