Netflix Announces New Series By Comic Legend Frank Miller

Frank Miller is a name that many comic book fans are probably familiar with. For those unfamiliar, Miller was behind titles such as Sin City and 300, both of which were adapted into movies. He also wrote comics for both DC and Marvel, such as Batman and Daredevil, just to name a few.

Now it looks like Miller has a new show that is expected to make its way onto Netflix. Called “Cursed”, this will be based on the story of King Arthur where it will focus on the Lady of the Lake. For those who might not have read King Arthur, the Lady of the Lake was the one who gave the Excalibur sword to King Arthur.

According to Netflix’s description, “Based on the upcoming book of the same name, Cursed is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.”

The series will be based on an upcoming book also by the same name, in which Tom Wheeler (who will also be acting as executive producer) will be writing it while Miller will be illustrating it. There is no mention of when the series will be debuting, but it could be worth keeping an eye out for if you’ve enjoyed Miller’s work in the past.

Redditors Will No Longer Be Able To Make Bitcoin Payments

Reddit was one of the earlier adopters of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. It allowed users to pay for premium membership by using Bitcoin, but it appears that is no longer an option as the company has recently disabled the option. The good news is that it is possible that this could be temporary.

This was confirmed by Reddit board admin emoney04 who wrote that this is due to glitches in Coinbase’s system which led to them disabling the feature for now. “Yup that’s right. The upcoming Coinbase change, combined with some bugs around the Bitcoin payment option that were affecting purchases for certain users, led us to remove Bitcoin as a payment option.”

However like we said, the good news for cryptocurrency enthusiasts is that it could be a temporary disablement of the feature. Emoney04 also wrote that Reddit will be watching the progression of Coinbase’s system before they decide if they want to go ahead and reenable the feature. “We’re going to take a look at demand and watch the progression of Coinbase Commerce before making a decision on whether to reenable.”

No word on when that might happen, if at all, so if you were looking to make payments using Bitcoin on Reddit, it looks like that won’t be happening anytime soon.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook Speaks Up About Facebook’s Privacy Scandal

Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to testify before Congress on the company’s recent privacy scandal because while Facebook has been embroiled in similar situations in the past, the fallout from this recent scandal is particularly severe. However if there is at least one tech CEO who believes they’ll never find themselves in that situation, is Apple’s Tim Cook.

In an interview with Recode’s Kara Swisher and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, Cook was asked what he would do if he were Facebook’s CEO and found himself in this position, in which Cook replied by saying, “I wouldn’t be in this situation.” Cook also went on to add that Apple could have just as easily gone down the path that Facebook took, and would have made a ton of money doing so.

According to Cook, “The truth is, we could make a ton of money if we monetized our customer — if our customer was our product. We’ve elected not to do that.” This isn’t the first time that Cook has spoken up regarding customer privacy in the past, where several years ago he made similar comments with regards to the privacy Apple offers its customers versus Facebook and Google.

Cook isn’t alone on this either as his predecessor and the late co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, also highlighted Apple’s stance on privacy way back in 2010.

Facebook Cuts Ties To Data Brokers In Attempt To Regain Users’ Trust

Facebook is in hot water right now due to a recent data privacy scandal that they are embroiled in. Many have expressed their concern about Facebook’s collection of data on their users in the past, but we suppose this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Facebook has since been scrambling to come up with ways to deal with it and regain the trust of their users.

In their latest attempt to win back the trust of their users, Facebook announced that they will be cutting ties to several large data brokers who use Facebook’s data to help advertisers target customers on the social media platform. According to a statement made by Graham Mudd, a Facebook product marketing director, this has apparently been in the works for the past few months. “While this is common industry practice, we believe this step, winding down over the next six months, will help improve people’s privacy on Facebook.”

Like we said, Facebook has been trying to come up with ways to deal with the fallout from this scandal, with the most recent effort from the company being making privacy tools easier to find, thus allowing users to adjust their privacy settings in an easier manner. Whether or not this will be enough to regain the trust of their users remains to be seen, but so far several companies have been taking a stance against them.

For example Tesla recently deleted their Facebook page along with Playboy. Companies such as Mozilla and Sonos have also pulled their ads from the social network.
