Facebook Ditches Plans For Two Separate Feeds

In a bid to increase meaningful connections on its platform, Facebook conducted an experiment in six countries which placed content from publishers in a separate feed and the main News Feed was limited to posts from friends and family members. However, the experiment didn’t yield positive results which is why Facebook has now decided to ditch its plans to separate content on the world’s largest social network into two separate feeds.

The content from publishers was placed in a new feed called Explore Feed. Facebook launched this experiment in response to feedback from people who wanted to see more posts from their friends and family in News Feed.

The experiment was conducted in six countries and Facebook wanted to ascertain whether or not users would like a version of Facebook with two different feeds: one for posts from Pages and the other from people that they care about.

Facebook says that the experiment has revealed that “people don’t want two separate feeds,” and that users told the company in surveys that they were less satisfied with the posts they were seeing and the two separate feeds didn’t really help them connect more with friends and family.

Facebook has since concluded that the Explore Feed isn’t an effective way for people to discover new content on the network so it has decided to discontinue the experiment.

Microsoft Launches Combat Tech Special Edition Xbox Controller

Microsoft has a habit of launching special edition Xbox One controllers to offer more options to gamers who like splurging on these limited edition items. The company today announced the launch of a Combat Tech Special Edition wireless Xbox controller. It’s part of the Xbox Wireless Controller Tech Series that the company launched last year. It’s a line of special edition controllers that are inspired by military technology and performance patterns normally seen in combat vehicles.

The Xbox Wireless Controller – Combat Tech Special Edition has a traditional Military Green palette which is complemented by orange accents and military insignia. Much like the Recon Tech and Patrol Tech controllers before it, the Combat Tech controller has a textured laser-etched grip on the front and rubberized diamond grips on the back.

Microsoft is selling this new controller starting March 27th for $69.99. It will be available through the Microsoft Store and participating retailers across the globe. The Recon Tech Special Edition and Patrol Tech Special Edition are also available for purchase. Both cost $69.99 and are available in a dark grey and dark blue military design respectively.

In select markets, customers will get 14 day trials for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass after they purchase the controller.
