Alleged LG G7 Spotted At MWC With A Familiar Notch

There are many, even fans of the iPhone, who would consider the iPhone X’s notch a design flaw. This is something that Samsung also pointed out when they announced the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but despite many poking fun of the notch, it seems that there are quite a few Android OEMs who don’t particularly mind the design.

In a post on Israeli website Ynet (via Evan Blass), it seems that the LG G7 was shown off at MWC 2018 which is taking place this week. However it seems that this particular version of the LG G7 might not be the final version as Blass has speculated that this model could have been the one that LG decided to scrap in favor of another handset codenamed “Judy”.

Regardless of whether or not that is true, this leak has revealed that LG might be considering introducing a notch in the LG G7 which seems to go against some of the previous leaks that we’ve seen, so clearly this is best taken with a grain of salt. The LG G7 was expected to be launched at MWC 2018, but it was later suggested that LG had decided to go back to the drawing board, thus the phone’s launch was delayed.

However LG denied this and said that the LG G7’s launch was “on schedule”. Exactly when that is remains to be seen, but last we heard a launch in June could be in the cards.

Consumer Reports Claims iPhone X’s Camera Is The Best

When it comes to smartphone cameras, this is an area in which Apple has typically never let its customers down. While the competition might sometimes edge Apple out, typically iPhone cameras have been known to produce some high-quality images. In fact it seems that Consumer Reports agrees as well.

In their latest report on the “Best Smartphone Cameras” (via MacRumors), the publication has found that the iPhone X is the best at the moment. This is followed interestingly enough by the iPhone 8 and then the iPhone 8 Plus, which we reckon should have slightly edged out the iPhone 8 due to its dual camera setup.

Other non-iPhones that made the list include the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, the Note 8, and the Galaxy S8 Active. Interestingly enough Consumer Reports’ top 10 list seems to be populated by either an iPhone or a Samsung, although we’re not sure why the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL did not make the cut considering how much praise has been heaped onto the phone’s cameras.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ understandably did not make the cut as both phones were only just announced, but it will be interesting to see that with the new camera setup on Samsung’s flagship phones, how it will fare against the iPhone X and the rest of the competition.

Spotify Finally Announces Plans To Go Public

We have heard the rumors that Spotify could be planning on going public many years ago. However it seems that it is only after about 3-4 years later that those rumors have finally come true because following a report of a confidential IPO filing, Spotify has finally announced that they will be going public.

The company will begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker name “SPOT”, with shares being traded as high as $132.50 on private markets, according to the company. What this means is that Spotify’s valuation, based on ordinary shares outstanding as of the 22nd of February, would be around $23 billion.

According to Spotify, they announced last month that they have hit the 70 million subscriber mark which puts them way ahead of the competition. However analysts have predicted that at the rate Apple Music is growing, it is possible that they could very well overtake Spotify in terms of subscriber count as soon as this summer. This helped by the fact that Apple Music comes (sort of) preloaded on every iOS device which does make it easier for users to sign up for it.

We have also heard speculation that Spotify could be branching out beyond just music streaming. A recent job listing has hinted that Spotify might get into the hardware business by producing its own smart speakers.

Logitech Launches SDK For Its Craft Keyboard

Logitech has announced that they will be expanding the functionality of the Craft keyboard, and this will be done by Logitech themselves, and also through the release of the keyboard’s SDK which in turn opens up the door to third-party developers who might come up with some interesting ideas and applications for it.

Logitech is a brand that some of you might think of when it comes to computer keyboards. The company has launched a variety of keyboards over the years in all manner of sizes, but last year they launched the Craft keyboard which is probably its most unique keyboard to date. The keyboard, for those unfamiliar, comes with a dial dubbed the “Crown”, where twisting and turning and clicking the Crown will give users a bunch of new controls that they can work with.

In a way it’s almost as if Logitech took Microsoft’s Surface Dial, shrunk it, and integrated it with a keyboard, and feedback so far has been mostly positive. Logitech’s latest announcement includes support for apps like Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, where through the use of the dial, users will be able to fine tune certain settings while they’re editing their photos.

This was previously demonstrated with Photoshop where the dial could be used to adjust brush size, hardness, opacity, and flow, all from the same input device which could potentially be more efficient. For those who are interested, the Logitech Craft is available for purchase via Logitech’s website for $200.
