OEMs often discourage the use of third-party charing accessories for various reasons, whether for alleged safety or to implicitly boost first-party accessories sales. They often can do very little, however, to completely prevent users from doing that anyway. At least not without getting in potential legal trouble. Nintendo might have stumbled on a tactic to give Switch owners a scare … Continue reading

When it comes to TV shows and movies, there are various genres available that target all kinds of viewers. For example you have genres like drama, reality, documentary, fantasy, sci-fi, and so on. Each genre obviously appeals to different types of people, but if sci-fi and/or fantasy TV shows and movies appeal to you in particular, Netflix has you covered.
This is according to a recent study conducted by analytics firm Ampere Analysis (via Business Insider) in which they found that in Q1 2018, the sci-fi and fantasy genre was the most popular of Netflix original shows amongst subscribers. It even managed to overtake comedy as the most popular genre where 12% of subscribers chose it as their favorite genre of TV show.
In fact it seems that Netflix could be looking to build on that popularity and are said to focus more on sci-fi and fantasy TV shows and movies from here on out. We suppose a good example of tht would be Stranger Things in which season 3’s production is already underway and a fourth and possible fifth season could also be in the cards for the future.
Netflix has also released other originals around the genre such as Altered Carbon, Lost in Space, and TV series based around various Marvel superhero characters, all of which have new seasons in the works as well. Given that Disney is expected to launch their own streaming service next year and with Star Wars and Marvel under their belt, it’s not surprising that Netflix would want to step up their game.

Facebook has been fighting fake news from being shared and posted on its platform and have come up with all kinds of ways to deal with it. One of those ways in the past was by actually warning users of a fake news article with a huge red warning label, but unfortunately this backfired as it made users want to share it even more.
Now it looks like Facebook has come up with an interesting solution, and that is they will literally shrink fake news links that are being shared. In the screenshot above, the image to the left shows a link that has been shared to an article that has been suspected of being fake, and below it it shows related fact-checked articles that users might be interested in.
In the image to the right, it shows how links to articles that do not contain fake information actually look like when shared, and as you can tell the fake news one is smaller and less visible. Presumably this is so that when users are scrolling through their News Feed, they might miss these links entirely in favor of articles that have been fact-checked.
Facebook has since confirmed these changes in a statement made to TechCrunch’s Josh Constine which reads, “We reduce the visual prominence of feed stories that are fact-checked false.”

While Square Enix might be done with the Hitman franchise after dropping the game’s developer IO Interactive last year, the good news is that the Hitman franchise isn’t going anywhere because if you recall, the folks at Warner Bros. announced earlier this month that they would be taking up publishing duties for the game.
It is unclear when the next Hitman game will be published, but it seems that it could be soon because thanks to the ratings board from Korea and Australia, they might have accidentally revealed the existence of a game called Hitman: Sniper Assassin. The game has yet to be officially announced so presumably it will be a brand new title, although it has been pointed out that the title of the game does sound similar to previous Hitman releases, such as Hitman: Sniper for iOS and Android, and Hitman: Sniper Challenge.
According to the ratings board listing, Hitman: Sniper Assassin is expected to be released on the PS4, Xbox One, and the PC, but other than that it does not mention when the game will be released or what we might be able to expect from it. In any case E3 2018 is coming up in the next month or so, so perhaps we will learn more about it then.

It’s hardly a secret that Samsung’s timetable has recently been thrown into a bit of a chaos due to external factors. There was the literal explosion of the Galaxy Note 7, the arrival of the iPhone X, and, now, the slow sales of the Galaxy S9. All of these seem to have at least one side effect: it makes Samsung … Continue reading

A closer inspection tells you that despite the visual similarities, the Memminger car is a vastly different beast. The car is built by a German restoration shop unsurprisingly called Memminger. For those who are curious about Microsoft’s next update to its Office series of productivity software, you know that Microsoft will be releasing it later this year. However the good news for commercial users is that if you were wondering whether or not it will be worth upgrading to, Microsoft has since released the Office 2019 Preview for commercial customers.
This is according to a post on Microsoft’s website in which it reads, “Office 2019 delivers new features to help end users create amazing content in less time. Updates include new and improved inking features across the apps, like the roaming pencil case, pressure sensitivity, and tilt effects; more powerful data analysis in Excel, like new formulas, new charts, and Power BI integration; and sophisticated presentation features in PowerPoint, like Morph and Zoom. These features are already included in Office 365 ProPlus but are not available in Office 2016.”
However given that this preview is aimed more towards commercial users, Microsoft is highlighting some of the changes that might be more applicable towards such users, such as Click-to-Run which offers fast deployments and updates so that IT managers can manage updates more efficiently. There is also talk about improved security, increased productivity, and more. If you are a commercial user and would like to check out this preview, head on over to Microsoft’s website to sign up.
