We’re back! T-Mobile and Sprint might well become one big phone network. It’s the mobile industry’s long-running equivalent of the Ross and Rachel will-they-won’t-they, just with more references to 5G spectrum. Oh and LG is promising a stupidly loud…
Right now battle royale-type games are pretty popular amongst gamers, such as Fortnite Battle Royale and PUBG, both of whom have found their way onto mobile and have made huge splashes. Unsurprisingly many other developers have since embarked on creating their own battle royale games presumably to cash in on the excitement.
However if there will be one company that isn’t so quick to jump in with both feet it would be Microsoft. This was revealed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer who tweeted that Microsoft won’t be building one just because others have, and that Microsoft would rather support a new game that offers something different.
Millions are playing BR games right now. I don’t want to just build one because others have built them. FNBR is massive, PUBG is huge, new BR variants being built by some very quality devs, I’d rather support unless we find something special in 1P that’s a different take.

Either way if you were hoping to see something from Microsoft, it seems like you might end up waiting a fair bit for it, if at all.

Blizzard has several main franchises which includes Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft. However not that long ago Blizzard launched a brand new IP in the form of Overwatch, but it seems that Blizzard could have a new game in the works thanks to a recently spotted job listing (via Aus Gamers).
According to the job listing, it is calling for a designer with experience “developing weapons, abilities, and gameplay systems in action or first-person shooter games”. It also requires that the person applying for the job have a “passion for competitive first-person shooter games”, which if you’re wondering why it sounds familiar, it is because of a job listing from last year.
Last December it was discovered that Blizzard was hiring for a new first-person game that involved vehicles. Given that this job listing is also for a first-person game, it wouldn’t really be a stretch to think that Blizzard could be still hiring for the same game. Unfortunately knowing Blizzard, it could be a long time before we know anything more concrete.
It is possible that this could be for an existing IP, but save for Overwatch, there aren’t any games in Blizzard’s lineup that would benefit from being an FPS. Either way we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more info.
