Avengers: Infinity War Smashes U.S. Opening Record

It was already expected that Avengers: Infinity War was going to be a hit and when the critics reviews started pouring in, it became evident that this could possibly be one of the best performing movies at the box office ever. That has turned out to be true that Marvel’s latest superhero film has shattered the record for the highest box-office total in its debut weekend.

Avengers: Infinity War has pulled in $250 million on its opening weekend, according to Deadline, comfortably beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens which clinched this record in 2015 when it earned $247 million on its opening weekend.

The latest numbers from Box Office Mojo reveal that the film earned $39 million on Thursday night followed by $106 million the very next day. It had a record-breaking Saturday with an $83 million rake thus finishing a very successful opening in the United States.

The movie has been a hit internationally as well where it has earned $380 million over the weekend. Avengers: Infinity War has thus had a $630 million global opening.

Avengers: Infinity War is likely going to hold the top spot at the box office for the next few weeks before it encounters some competition. Other hotly anticipated movies such as Deadpool 2 are going to hit screens in the coming weeks.

Yinscorp reveals Count Projector

yinscorp-count-projectorA company known as Yinscorp has just introduced the Count Projector, and this is no Sesame Street toy. In fact, the Count Projector is actually a desk lamp that also doubles up as a projector platform which is able to transform your regular smartphone into that of an interactive augmented reality (AR) projector. This innovative pico projector and LED desk lamp multi-function platform is all set to launch on Kickstarter, where it will retail for $699 at retail, although those who have faith in it on Kickstarter can enjoy up to a whopping $290 discount.

There is a fair number of product applications that one is able to take advantage of the Count Projector here, where among them include African Animals: The Match that is an AR playing card game which will allow users to summon the animals on the cards, followed by interaction with them, all the while learning about their daily lives with the ability to pit battle against their friends. As for “The Amazing Show Director”, users can color a character on paper, record voices, and narratives in order to conjure a story. The Count will then play the story based on the animated character of choice.

Want to pick up a new language like English? That is easier done than said with “Padkaka”, where scanning the toy cards will then enable Count to playback the associated videos which in turn teaches children English vocabularies. Forget about old school pop up books, those were fun, but in the 21st century, enter Drake’s Lesson. Drake’s lesson might seem like a regular pop up book, but opening it up will enable the reader to interact with the animated projected characters, allowing children to learn the importance of sharing and playing nicely with others via an engaging, multi-journey adventure story.

The Count Projector is no regular projector, that’s for sure, and will surely be worth checking out for any parent who would like to see their child embark on a whole new learning adventure.

Intel Delays 10nm Cannon Lake Chips Again

If you’ve been waiting for the release of Intel’s 10nm Cannon Lake chips then you will not be delighted to hear that there’s now another delay. Intel has once again delayed the release of its 10nm chips which many have been looking forward to as it marks the start of new smaller and faster processors from one of the leading semiconductor manufacturers on the planet.

Intel originally promised to launch chips from its 10nm Cannon Lake node as far back as 2016 but there have been continuous delays ever since. The company had promised to show off these chips earlier this month as well but that didn’t happen, Intel only launched new chips built on the 14nm++ Coffee Lake node.

Intel had previously said that it was going to start mass production of its 10nm chips by the end of 2018 but the company now expects that mass production of its 10nm Cannon Lake chips will now shift to 2019. The company has been shipping them in low volumes but it’s not really clear who Intel is shipping these chips to.

Rivals TSMC and Samsung have already released their 10nm chips. Samsung is actually shipping the second-generation of its 10nm chips and may even have qualified 8nm chips by the time Intel rolls out its 10nm products.

Xiaomi Surge S2 Custom Chipset Reportedly In Development

While there are many smartphone vendors out there, it’s only a few who are capable of developing and using their own chips in their products. Samsung and Huawei are two such manufacturers. Xiaomi tried joining this exclusive club last year when it showcased its custom Surge S1 chipset but the project essentially fizzled out. Xiaomi is now said to be taking another shot at custom SoC development and it’s reportedly working with TSMC on the Surge S2 chipset.

It was also rumored earlier this year that Xiaomi is quietly developing its Surge S2 custom chipset which is going to be manufactured by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

According to a new report, Xiaomi’s latest custom chip is going to be based on TSMC’s 16nm process and that it’s going to have an octacore design with four 2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53 cores. The chip may also be compatible with UFS 2.1 storage and LPDDR4 memory.

It’s said that Xiaomi wants to start using this chip in its mobile devices by the second half of this year. Whether or not the custom chip will be ready for public use by then remains to be seen, though. Xiaomi hasn’t really confirmed or denied anything as yet concerning the Surge 2.
