Resident Evil 7 Cloud Version Could Launch Outside Of Japan

Earlier this week Capcom announced that Resident Evil 7 would be arriving on the Nintendo Switch. However this isn’t the version that you would expect, instead it is the “Cloud Version” which is basically the same game but streamed from a server, meaning that all the processing load is taken off the Switch.

However the game’s initial launch seems to be only in Japan, but as noted by Twitter user @eigotaku, there is an English language option in the game which seems to suggest that the game could launch outside of Japan eventually. Typically games released in Japan are in Japanese, which is why even if you have access to the Japanese eShop, you might still have a hard time trying to understand what’s going during the dialog and menu.

That being said if you do have a good grasp on Japanese, both reading and writing, the folks at Nintendo Life have pointed out that the game doesn’t seem to stream so well outside of Japan. It could be the initial launch has some server issues, but as the publication points out, they tried streaming from the UK and the latency is horrible.

Will it get better in time? It’s hard to tell but if you’re so inclined, you can download the game and give it a try. Users will be able to stream for the first 15 minutes for free, after which they will need to pay 2,000 yen for 180 days of access.

OnePlus 6 Is The Company’s First Handset With Seamless Android Updates

The OnePlus 6 is a handset of many first for the company. OnePlus confirmed several weeks before officially unveiling the device that it would be the company’s first smartphone with a display notch. It’s also the first OnePlus smartphone that has a glass body and now it also happens to be the first one from the company to feature support for seamless Android updates.

What seamless Android updates means is that users will find that over-the-air updates install much faster on the OnePlus 6 than they used to on older devices. The feature enables the device to download and install and over-the-air update in the background.

It doesn’t prevent the user from using the device and they can continue with what they’re doing. The new system changes are applied only when they reboot so there’s no forced reboot after the OTA has been installed. This saves a lot of time because users no longer have to wait for the installation to happen on boot before they can get into the phone again. Since the OTA is already installed, a simple reboot is all that’s needed to apply the changes.

Google has been offering this feature on its Pixel smartphones and other OEMs have added support for seamless updates as well. OnePlus is now the latest OEM to join this list and it’s something that its users will certainly be very happy about.
