WhatsApp Bug Lets Blocked Contacts Continue To Send Messages

The whole point of blocking someone on social media or messenger apps is because you don’t want to be bothered by them anymore, or at least for the time-being. However it seems that WhatsApp is currently experiencing a bug in which it allows blocked contacts to continue sending messages to the person who blocked them.

This was discovered by WABetaInfo who suspects that it might be a server-side issue as there were no problems earlier. This means that it isn’t so much a bug in the app itself, but rather with WhatsApp’s services that might have somehow allow the block to be bypassed. It also allows blocked contacts to see the user’s profile picture and online status.

For those who absolutely need to keep these users blocked, there is no fix right now. However there will be a workaround in which users can mute conversations which will at the very least prevent notifications from popping up. Users can also archive messages to avoid reading them if you’d rather not go through the hassle.

WhatsApp has yet to formally acknowledge the bug so it is unclear if they are aware of it and might have fixed it already, which hopefully they have. However if they haven’t, then this is something to take note of if you have several people blocked on WhatsApp.

Second Lawsuit Filed Against Apple Over MacBook Pro Keyboard Design

When Apple announced that they would be giving their new laptops a new keyboard mechanism, it sounded like it was done for the better, but not everyone feels that way, with the data claiming that the new butterfly mechanism keyboards are failing twice as much compared to before.

A class-action lawsuit has since been filed against Apple over the keyboard design, but it looks like Apple’s legal woes are far from over as a second class-action lawsuit has been filed as well. According to the filing obtained by Patently Apple, it alleges that Apple had violated five laws. This includes breach of express warranty, violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, violation of California Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, violation of the California Unfair Competition Law, and violation of California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act.

These violations range from the way Apple handles repairs and warranties of its laptops when sent in for keyboard defects, to the way Apple allegedly mislead customers through the marketing and advertising of its laptops. The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act is actually an interesting one which claims that products sold must be for a purpose, which the suit claims isn’t the case with Apple’s butterfly mechanism keyboards.

Unlike the first suit which asks that Apple recall and replace all laptops, this lawsuit is seeking damages, although exactly how much will be determined at trial.
