Apple HomePod by Beats: Cheaper but not enough to save it

Apple products don’t always become and overnight success. Some take years of constant marketing to hammer them into consumers’ skulls. So while the HomePod’s reported lackluster sales are disappointing for Apple fans, they might not be as fatal as some predict it to be. That said, the company seems to be trying to salvage its image by making a rather … Continue reading

LG Q7 Mid-Range Smartphone Announced

If LG’s recently announced LG G7 is a bit out of your price range, or if you simply need another smartphone that doesn’t necessarily need to be the best of the best, LG might have something for you. The company has recently announced the LG Q7, a mid-range smartphone that might be more within your budget.

The Q7 is the successor to the Q6 and with the newer model, we’re looking at a 5.5-inch FHD+ display with a FullVision 18:9 display aspect ratio, along with the use of a 1.5GHz octa-core/1.8GHz quad-core processor. However note that the Q7 isn’t just one smartphone, but there will be several variants that come with slightly different specs.

For example the base Q7 and Q7 Alpha will feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the Q7 Plus will feature 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The cameras will also be slightly different with the Q7 sporting a 13MP rear-facing camera, and an 8MP/5MP front-facing shooter. The Q7 Alpha will feature a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, while the Q7 Plus will have a 16MP rear shooter with an 8MP/5MP front-facing camera.

Apart from that, the rest of the phone’s specs are more or less the same which includes a fingerprint sensor, HiFi Quad DAC, IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, and a 3,000mAh battery with Android 8.0 Oreo preinstalled.

Nokia X6 Reportedly Sells Out In 10 Seconds in China

It has been less than a week since the Nokia X6 was announced in China and it looks like the handset is already proving to be a huge hit. According to reports, it appears that the handset has managed to sell out of its initial inventory over in China in a whopping 10 seconds, and apparently this represents about 700,000 units across a couple of retailers.

We suppose given the handset’s design, it looks like it could easily pass off as a high-end flagship, but instead it packs mid-range specs which is actually pretty decent for its price. There were initial rumors suggesting that the phone could be exclusive to the China market, but that later changed when HMD Global conducted a poll on Twitter in which a overwhelming number of users voted for it to launch internationally.

We’re not sure if HMD will go through on their promise to launch it internationally, but given its success in China, we’re sure that the company would love to see it just as well-received in other markets around the world. No word on when that might be, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information if and when it surface, but in the meantime is the Nokia X6 a handset you might considering should it launch in your market?

Microsoft Testing ‘Departments’ Section In Microsoft Store

From time to time we see companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft make changes to their app stores to make it easier to use, better to navigate, all in favor of helping users discover new apps. Recently it looks like Microsoft has been making some changes, according to the folks at Windows Central who discovered them.

According to the report, it seems that these changes come in the form of a new “Departments” section in the Microsoft Store. This drop down menu will basically contain all the different products and/or service offered by Microsoft. For example users will be able to navigate software and apps for Windows 10, Office, extensions for the Edge browser, and so on.

It will also list sections for entertainment, like PC gaming, mixed reality (via the HoloLens headset), and so on. There will also be a section for the hardware that Microsoft sells, such as its Surface series of tablets and laptops, Xbox consoles, accessories, and more. That being said, these changes only seem to apply to those living in the US, and even then it seems that not all users can see it either, indicating that Microsoft might be testing it out and might not necessarily roll it out for real.

This means that if you’re not in the US you might not see these changes until possibly later, if at all, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
