New Final Fantasy XI Mobile Screenshots Published Online

For the past several years, we’ve seen Square Enix bring various versions of their Final Fantasy games onto mobile. Now a few years ago, the company announced that they would be bringing Final Fantasy XI onto mobile, and that was a few years ago when the game was originally intended for a release in 2016.

This means that it’s about a couple of years late, and for those who are worried about the fate of the game, fret not as Nexon (who is in charge of the port) has recently published several screenshots of the game, and along with a job listing seems to suggest that the game is indeed alive and well, and is only a matter of time before it is released to the public.

Unfortunately details about the game are a bit scarce at the moment which means that there is no mention of when the game will be released. However like we said it has been a couple of years since it was last seen so hopefully development is nearing the end. There is also no mention of pricing, but given Nexon’s track record for free-to-play titles with in-app purchases, there’s a chance we could be looking at something similar for Final Fantasy XI for mobile.

Apple Cracking Down On CallKit Apps In China

When you consider how big the China market is, it is not surprising to see companies such as Apple try to make accommodations so that they can operate in the country. For example Apple recently started accepting WeChat Pay in China, and in more recent times have started pulling apps that don’t comply with China’s regulation.

However it looks like those crackdowns aren’t at an end yet because according to a report from 9to5Mac, Apple is cracking down further on iOS apps using the CallKit functionality. For non-developers, CallKit is a framework offered to iOS developers in iOS 10 that allowed them to integrate calling services into their apps.

The notices which were sent to developers claim that their apps are not allowed to use CallKit due to government regulations, which isn’t surprising when you consider that it was late last year that apps such as Skype (which offers VoIP functionality) were pulled from various app stores in China.

While it’s expected that companies need to comply with local regulations in order to play nicely with the government, a study from last year suggested that Apple was pulling apps from the Chinese App Store at a considerably faster rate compared to normal. Apple has also been criticized by several US government officials for complying, claiming that Apple is enabling China’s censorship of the internet.

‘Deadpool 2’ Has The Second-Best Opening For An R-Rated Movie

With the first Deadpool movie, it was the first superhero movie to get an R-rating, which also went on to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. With that many are probably wondering if its successor, Deadpool 2, will be able to continue that streak, although unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be the case, although it did come very close.

In a report from Deadline, it seems that Deadpool 2 has managed to bring in $125 million over its opening weekend. Some had predicted that the movie would be able to open above $130, but it looks like it fell slightly short. It also fell behind the original Deadpool movie which earned $132.4 million domestically, so like we said, it came pretty close.

However what this means is that both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 hold the title of the highest-grossing R-rated movies ever, with Stephen King’s It remake coming in third at $123.4 million. However as Deadline points out, there was a possibility of it beating its predecessor as the first Deadpool movie had a four-day holiday which meant that they had an extra day to take advantage of.

That being said, Deadpool 2 is still a successful movie at the end of the day with mostly positive reviews. However if you’re hoping to see a third Deadpool movie, actor Ryan Reynolds has stated that he himself is unsure if there will be a third.

Blizzard Releases Adorable Stop-Motion Video For Overwatch’s Anniversary

Blizzard’s Overwatch is turning two as was previously confirmed and it seems that in celebration of the anniversary, Blizzard has recently published a very adorable stop-motion animated video. It features two characters from Overwatch – Tracer and Reaper which you can check out for yourself in the video above if you have a couple of minutes to spare. There is also a behind-the-scenes look for those who are curious as to how Blizzard pulled this one off.

With Overwatch turning two, Blizzard has also announced a celebration via in-game events. This event will be taking place between the 22nd of May to the 11th of June where Blizzard will be bringing back some brawls from previous Overwatch events. It also appears that there will be a bunch of new skins that gamers can collect, although this hardly comes as a surprise since Blizzard typically releases new skins with every new in-game event that they launch.

Overwatch turning two is a huge milestone for Blizzard considering that this is a new franchise for a company that has typically relied on Diablo, Warcraft, or StarCraft in the past. Blizzard has also managed to turn Overwatch into a competitive eSports game where they have launched their own Overwatch League and successfully partnered up with the likes of Twitch to stream Overwatch competitions.

Google Duo Introduces New Screen Sharing Feature

Screen sharing is a useful feature to have if you’re trying to show someone something, or if you’re trying to help with something, like in technical support. Now there are a variety of ways for users to screen share their smartphones, but more recently Google has added the feature to its Duo app.

For those unfamiliar with Duo, this is a video calling app that was announced alongside Allo a couple of years ago. The screen sharing feature was actually discovered back in October 2017 via an APK teardown, suggesting that the feature was on its way, and now fast forward a little more than half a year later, it is finally here.

However as Android Police has pointed out, the feature does seem to be a bit buggy. They have tested out the feature on at least three different phones running on different Android builds, and unfortunately all of them seem to run into issues with the feature where the screen from the person sharing their screen is frozen.

Android Police isn’t alone in their experience as the folks at Engadget are experiencing some issues with it as well. It seems odd that Google would roll out such a buggy feature and hopefully it’s one that they’ll fix soon, especially considering its potential usefulness.

Cartoon Network Announces Revival Of ThunderCats Series

If you grew up as a kid in the mid to late 1980s, chances are you might be very familiar with a cartoon series known as the ThunderCats, although it was revived again in 2011 but safe to say that it probably doesn’t have the same feel or nostalgia as the original. Now it looks like we’ll be treated to a third reboot, but this time done in a very different way.

In a report from Entertainment Weekly, it seems that the folks at Cartoon Network will be bringing back the ThunderCats in a new form called ThunderCats Roar. The new series will feature the same characters as the original, which includes Lion-O, Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, Snarf, and WilyKit and WilyKat.

It is also largely expected to follow the same story, except that in this case and as you can see in the trailer above, it will be a slightly more comedic version of the original. The drawings are certainly more whimsical and seems to be in line with some of the series that Cartoon Network (and cartoons in general these days) are pushing.

We’re not sure how well-received the new version of ThunderCats will be, but we suppose trying something new instead of giving us more of the same isn’t such a bad idea, although the reaction of the internet seems to be mixed However despite the comedic elements, the producers of the show have promised that they will be packing a ton of action into it as well. ThunderCats Roar will premiere on Cartoon Network come 2019.

NVIDIA-powered robot AI learns by watching humans

Artificial intelligence and machine learning have come a long way and have become buzzwords in many tech products today. Impressive as they are, however, their methods of learning are still mostly, well, artificial. NVIDIA researchers are developing a new way to train AI for industrial robots that almost closely mimics the way we ourselves learn. And that’s by watching how … Continue reading

TeenSafe child monitoring app leaked thousands of customer data

It seems that our eagerness or carelessness in surrendering our data so easily to companies and services is finally coming back to haunt us. From massive customer database hacking to the recent Facebook scandal, the data we’ve sowed on company servers are now being reaped by others, often by criminals. This latest incident is both unfortunate and probably also inevitable. … Continue reading
