No Plans To Bring Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Onto The Switch

Ahead of the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 reveal, a photo made its way online which showed the game instead of a case for the Nintendo Switch, suggesting that Black Ops 4 could be launched on the Switch in addition to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. This was actually not the first time we have heard such rumors so if anything, it corroborated previous claims.

Unfortunately for Switch gamers, it turns out that the rumors were simply that, rumors, and that Black Ops 4 will not be launching on the Switch. This is according to a report from Twinfinite who spoke to Yale Miller, senior producer at Treyarch, and Matt Scronce, gameplay designer at Treyarch and asked them about their plans to bring the game onto the Switch.

The answer was a swift and decisive “no”, leaving no room for speculation of any kind. It is a bit unfortunate as we’re sure that there are some Switch gamers out there who would love to see titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield launched for the console. After all there is some precedent to that as previous Call of Duty games were launched for the Wii and Wii U.

Not to mention given the Switch’s popularity, it makes sense that Treyarch and Activision would want to capitalize on that, right? Either way it seems that Switch gamers who want to play Black Ops 4 will need to play it on the PC or a different console for now.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Expected To Come With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor

In-display fingerprint sensors were touted to be the next big thing in biometrics, but to date we’ve only really seen a couple of such handsets, such as Vivo who was the first to the market with a smartphone with an in-display sensor. However it seems that Xiaomi could be next, according to a leaked video that is making its rounds.

In the video (via GSMArena), it shows a handset that is allegedly that of the Xiaomi Mi 8 with what appears to be an in-display fingerprint sensor. Now it’s hard to tell if the leaked video is legit, but given that Vivo has already gotten the ball rolling we suppose it was only a matter of time before we started seeing more handsets with the feature.

Now some of you might be thinking, wait, didn’t the Mi 6 launch last year? What happened to the Mi 7? Considering that Xiaomi is a Chinese company and that the Chinese belief in that the number “8” is supposed to be lucky, and that it is the company’s 8th anniversary, this is apparently why Xiaomi skipped the Mi 7 in favor of the Mi 8.

That being said, Xiaomi is said to be officially announcing the phone on the 23rd of May which is next week, so perhaps we’ll have all the official details then. Until we do perhaps it’s best to take it with a grain of salt for now.

Google Reportedly Working On Standalone AR Headset

Google’s attempt at creating augmented reality headsets is particularly well-documented. One of those attempts is the Google Glass which unfortunately never made it to the commercial stage. However it seems that Google could be making another attempt, according to a report from WinFuture.de.

It seems that the publication has managed to get their hands on documents which allegedly shows that Google is working with Taiwanese manufacturer Quanta on an AR headset codenamed A65. The headset is rumored to be powered by a custom quad-core Qualcomm QSC603 chipset and will feature a resolution of up to up to 2,560 x 1,440.

However what’s interesting is that the report is likening this headset to Microsoft’s HoloLens rather than the Google Glass. For those unfamiliar, the HoloLens is a mixed reality headset made by Microsoft. Unlike VR that completely immerses the user in a virtual reality, or AR that overlays the virtual over the real world, mixed reality is, well, a combination of both that attempts to merge the best of both.

The alleged headset by Google is also said to be a standalone device, meaning that it will not require tethering to another device, such as a computer. Google has yet to comment on the report so take it with a grain of salt for now, but given that the company has dabbled in both AR and VR headsets, to hear that they might be working on something new doesn’t really come as a surprise.
