No Plans To Bring Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Onto The Switch

Ahead of the official Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 reveal, a photo made its way online which showed the game instead of a case for the Nintendo Switch, suggesting that Black Ops 4 could be launched on the Switch in addition to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. This was actually not the first time we have heard such rumors so if anything, it corroborated previous claims.

Unfortunately for Switch gamers, it turns out that the rumors were simply that, rumors, and that Black Ops 4 will not be launching on the Switch. This is according to a report from Twinfinite who spoke to Yale Miller, senior producer at Treyarch, and Matt Scronce, gameplay designer at Treyarch and asked them about their plans to bring the game onto the Switch.

The answer was a swift and decisive “no”, leaving no room for speculation of any kind. It is a bit unfortunate as we’re sure that there are some Switch gamers out there who would love to see titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield launched for the console. After all there is some precedent to that as previous Call of Duty games were launched for the Wii and Wii U.

Not to mention given the Switch’s popularity, it makes sense that Treyarch and Activision would want to capitalize on that, right? Either way it seems that Switch gamers who want to play Black Ops 4 will need to play it on the PC or a different console for now.

zOrigin Is A Wearable That You Can Customize To Your Own Needs

All the wearable technology you see in the market today is fixed in what they do, meaning that you would have to buy a different wearable for a different purpose. However zGlue wants to change that and have launched zOrigin, a chipset and platform that lets users create and customize their wearable according to their needs.

In a way you could almost think of the zOrigin as the Raspberry Pi or Arduino for wearables, where it will feature an ARM Cortex M0 processor, a bunch of sensors like an accelerometer and temperature sensor, a contact-based heart rate monitor, and LED, Bluetooth, and so on. Basically it contains the necessary hardware that you would need for a wearable, and it’s up to you to decide what you want to do with it.

According to zGlue, the zOrigin can be made into all kinds of devices, such as panic buttons, smart jewelry, sensors for your shoes, and fitness trackers. There will also be an online web tool that lets you design other stackable chip designs for other projects. The zOrigin was debuted at the San Francisco Maker Faire where it was presented by Misfit’s founder, Sonny Vu.

Now for those who think that the zOrigin has some merit and is worth taking a look at, head on over to CrowdSupply where it is seeking funding where the developer kit is expected to cost $149.

GTA 5’s Publisher Believes PS5 Will Be Arriving In 2020

Sony’s PS4 Pro hasn’t been out for too long but it seems that speculation about the PS5 has already begun. In fact it seems that Take-Two, the publisher behind titles such as GTA 5, has decided to weigh in on when the console will be launched. In a report from DualShockers, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick offered up his predictions on when the console will launch.

Speaking during the company’s recent financial conference call, Zelnick offered his opinion that the console could be launched in 2020. However he goes on to state that he cannot comment on the plans of another company, such as Sony, but he believes that Take-Two has successfully navigated the transitions in console cycles pretty well.

This is actually not the first time we’re hearing the 2020 date. Last month an analyst report had also predicted a 2020 launch. There was also a report from Kotaku in which several of the publication’s sources had told them that the console would be launching in 2020 at the earliest. More recently there has been speculation that production on some of the PS5’s components might have already begun.

While we suppose a PS5 is inevitable, we have seen a shift in how companies like Sony and Microsoft have approached their current-gen consoles. Instead of just releasing an updated design, both Sony and Microsoft have actually launched more powerful consoles like the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.

This seemed to suggest that we might be looking at incremental upgrades in a shorter space of time, versus a huge gap followed by the release of a considerably more powerful console. In any case only time will tell if the rumors pan out, but if you wanted to get your hands on the PS4, you’ve probably still got a couple of years to enjoy it.

Sprint Offering Free LTE For Snapdragon PC Owners

Towards the end of last year and early this year, we saw a bunch of new laptops launched that were powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset. We’re talking about devices such as the ASUS NovaGo, the HP Envy x2, and the Lenovo Miix 630. One of the advertised features of such computers is being able to go online anywhere at anytime.

This is because it relies on 4G LTE connectivity instead of purely on WiFi, meaning that in instances where public WiFi isn’t available, mobile connectivity can be used. However it also means having to sign up for a data plan which can be pricey, but not if you’re a Sprint customer. This is because the company has recently announced free LTE for Snapdragon PC owners.

This is only applicable to those who own any of the three laptops that we mentioned above. It also seems that this offer is only valid until the end of the year, after which customers will have to pay a monthly fee of $15 (or $10 if you use AutoPay)to keep the subscription and connection going. Presumably this is to give customers a taste of what it will be like to be able to connect anytime, anywhere.

In any case for more information about this offer, you can head on over to Sprint’s website for the details.

Snap’s Designers Reportedly Warned Against Releasing Updated Design

When Snap announced that Snapchat would be redesigned to make it easier to use, it sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately the end result was anything but, and caused a lot of users to be frustrated with the app where some of them even launched a petition to bring back the old design.

Snap has since caved and have been rolling back to some of the older designs, but as it turns out this could have been a fumble that the company could have avoided in the first place. According to a report from The Information (paywall; via Engadget), Snap’s designers warned the company’s CEO Evan Spiegel against releasing the new design, claiming that during the pre-testing, the feedback wasn’t very positive and that engagement metrics dropped.

The publication also claims that Spiegel had given the company’s engineers a short timeframe to complete the redesign, and did not consult on design or engineering executives about the new functionality or its intended goal. However like we said, things appear to be back on track with some of the older design elements making a comeback.

However apparently the redesign of the redesign were made by Snapchat’s designers themselves, not by Spiegel, although naturally he was the one that oversaw and approved said changes. In an email sent to The Information, Spiegel wrote, “There is no doubt that collaboration yields better results :)”
