In my endless quest to get geeks interested in watches I present to you the Bell & Ross BR V2-93 GMT 24H, a new GMT watch from one of my favorite manufacturers that is a great departure from the company’s traditional designs.
The watch is a 41mm round GMT which means it has three hands to show the time in the 12-hour scale and another separate hand that shows the time in a 24 hour scale. You can use it to see timezones in two or even three places and it comes in a nice satin-brushed metal case with a rubber or metal strap.
B&R is unique because it’s one of the first companies to embrace online sales after selling primarily in watch stores for about a decade. This means the watches are slightly cheaper – this one is $3,500 – and jewelers can’t really jack up the prices in stores. Further B&R has a great legacy of making legible, usable watches and this one is no exception. It is also a fascinating addition to the line. B&R has an Instrument series which consists of large, square watches with huge numerals, and a Vintage series that hearkens back to WWII-inspired, smaller watches. This one sit firmly in the middle, taking on the clear lines of the Instrument inside of a more vintage case.
Ultimately watches like this one are nice tool watches – designed for legibility and usability above fashion. It’s a nice addition to the line and looks like something a proper geek could wear in lieu of Apple Watches and other nerd jewelry. Here’s hoping.
It was just a few months ago that Fortnite came to iOS, and it’s safe to say that launch was a success. The entire time, however, Fortnite fans have been wondering when the game will make its way to Android. Given how many people use Android phones (especially in comparison to iOS), you can bet that getting the game on … Continue reading

If you’re a fan of binge-watching shows on Netflix, you’re probably aware of the feature that allows people streaming on certain devices to skip the introduction to TV shows. Now, users on Chromecast can take advantage of that feature as well.

Ahead of the reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, there was a rumor that said that the game might be dropping its single-player campaign in favor of a battle royale mode. It was an interesting rumor considering that about 6 years ago, Treyarch studio chief Mark Lamia told Kotaku about the importance of single-player campaigns.
Unfortunately for those who have enjoyed the campaigns in previous Black Ops games, it looks like campaigns are coming to an end, at least as far as Black Ops 4 is concerned. This was confirmed during the game’s official reveal and for those wondering why, Dan Bunting who is the co-head at Treyarch offered an explanation why to the folks at Polygon.
According to Bunting, it seems that a campaign was never really on their radar. “When we set out to make this game, we never started with the idea that we would make a traditional campaign. That was just not part of our plan. We started from a place that we were gonna make a game that across the board can be playable with friends. That’s been our mission from day one.”
He also goes on to state the obvious, which is that over the years more and more players have started to play competitive multiplayer, so it’s only natural that Treyarch would want to focus on that front. “If you look at it through that lens, and trying to deliver more for your players and how you’re playing the game, it’s a pretty easy decision. I realize it’s also a challenging decision for other reasons. But we’ve never been ones to shy away from a challenge.”
Will this be a deal-breaker for some gamers? We suppose that’s a possibility, but Treyarch has also announced a new “Blackout” battle royale mode that looks pretty epic, so maybe that could make up for it.

A couple of days ago, HMD Global officially announced the Nokia X6. The initial launch was made in China which had some wondering about its worldwide availability, but then again given that HMD sometimes announces phones in China before the rest of the world, we suppose it was only a matter of waiting.
Unfortunately that might not be the case, according to a report from NPU who claims that based on a tip that they’ve gotten, the Nokia X6 might remain exclusive to the Chinese market. It goes on to state that HMD could be launching two more X-series smartphones, the Nokia X5 and the Nokia X7, although unfortunately their specs are unclear at this point in time.
If the rumors are true, it would be a bit of a bummer as the Nokia X6 is actually a pretty sleek-looking handset with a full screen display, similar to what we’ve seen other handset makers introduce to their high-end flagship phones. Granted the X6 doesn’t pack particularly high-end hardware, but like we said, for its price and for its design, it’s actually a pretty decent handset.
It is possible that either the Nokia X5 and X7 could feature designs similar to the X6 so we guess we’ll just have to wait and see. HMD has confirmed that they are hosting an event on the 29th of May so perhaps we will learn more about these phones then.
