A couple of days ago, Samsung had temporarily halted the Android 8.0 Oreo roll out for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The reason behind it was because according to some users, the update was causing unexpected reboots which was clearly a bad thing. However the good news is that the problem has since been fixed.
According to reports, it seems that Samsung has resumed the roll out of the Oreo update for both phones, which means that whatever the glitch was, it took the company only a couple of days to address. However it should be noted that this roll out of the update is only to unlocked handsets, which means that if you bought the phone from a carrier, you’d probably have to wait for carrier approval before it is released.
At this point it is unclear as to when US carriers are expected to begin the roll out of the update to their phones, or if the recent hiccup might have caused it to be delayed even further. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information on when it does, although hopefully it will be soon especially when you consider the fact that Android P is already in developer preview and also available for public beta, which we guess users can check out in the meantime if they’re curious.
