It seems that Samsung may have not been burned badly enough by the Galaxy Note 7 catastrophe in 2016. Either that or it is slowly transitioning to a new and more permanent release cadence. Since the Galaxy S8 last year, Samsung has been moving its flagship launches earlier and earlier, shifting away from the company’s once predictable strategy. Korean media … Continue reading
With the FCC repealing the net neutrality rules, many were concerned about what kind of market this would result in, where ISPs and carriers would try and upsell customers for access to certain things on the internet that were previously available, for example imagine having to pay for access to stream 4K YouTube videos because it’s not part of your internet plan.
Earlier this month US Senators attempted to force a vote to restore net neutrality and it looks like they were successful. The US Senate has now voted to overturn the FCC’s repeal of net neutrality rules with a vote of 52 for and 47 against. However this isn’t the time to celebrate just yet as there are several more hurdles that need to be cleared before it is officially repealed.
The next step involves passing through the House of Representatives, and ultimately it will also require President Donald Trump to sign the resolution to complete the process. This means that there are still several venues in which the Senate’s efforts could fail. There is something of a fallback plan where several states in have already announced plans for their own net neutrality rules.
This includes the state of Washington which is the first state that has turned it into law. However some argue that this might be difficult to enforce on a state level and that companies might try and contest it legally.

Valve has several successful games under its banner, but in terms of the company launching new titles to existing franchises or launching brand new IPs, Valve has been a bit quiet on that front. However it seems that the company could have something in the works, according to a hiring website that the company has recently setup.
According to the hiring website, it seems that Valve is looking to hire new employees for work on new games and top secret projects. Unsurprisingly the website doesn’t list specifics of what kind of games Valve could be hiring for, but there are many gamers out there who are undoubtedly waiting for Half-Life 3, which at this point in time feels like it may never happen.
That being said, just last month Valve announced that they had acquired Campo Santo who is behind indie titles such as Firewatch. We suppose if you wanted, you could consider that to be one of Valve’s more recent releases, although we’re sure that there are gamers who are looking forward to seeing more of Valve’s originals.
In any case only time will tell if and when Valve does get around to making their own games again, but hopefully this website is a sign that they are starting things back up again.

5G will be the future standards in which mobile internet will be based on, and unsurprisingly many are touting just how fast it will be. However given that not many of us have gotten to experience it for ourselves, Fox Sports has announced that together with AT&T and Intel, they plan on demonstrating how fast 5G can be.
How will they do that? They will do that by streaming 4K video over 5G for the 118th US Open Championship which will be taking place between the 14-17th of June. According to Fox, “The 5G wireless technology will transmit 4K HDR images from two FOX Sports cameras positioned on the challenging par-3 seventh hole at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club through the FOX Sports production truck, making it available to FOX Sports and its viewers through DirecTV. In the future, 5G could possibly be used to deliver real-time virtual reality views from the course to viewers.”
It will be interesting to see if 5G is capable of providing such a stream to viewers, especially in 4K HDR which will no doubt require a lot of bandwidth. Major carriers in the US have announced their plans to roll out 5G over the coming months with hopes to get 5G up and running in various cities in the US by the end of the year. However with most of our mobile devices not being able to support 5G just yet, it will most likely be in 2019/2020 that we will finally be able to experience it on our phones.

A Japanese company is hoping to launch an e-ink portable typewriter in the US market, a model called Pomera. The typewriter resembles a folding keyboard, but with a twist: a 6-inch e-ink display appears alongside the keyboard, enabling users to type out a document without carrying around a full-size laptop or a large battery. The company is seeking funding on … Continue reading
Earlier this week, the internet erupted around a new obsession tailor-made to go viral. It started with a one-word snippet of recorded audio that had actually been circling the web for awhile, but unclear pronunciation made it an aural Rorschach. The…
