Call it modesty or inaccuracy but Nintendo seems to have a problem properly estimating its chances of success. Then again, after a long period of being left behind by other gaming console giants, Nintendo might have not exactly thought it would be this successful. From the Switch to the NES and SNES Classic Editions, Nintendo has failed to make enough … Continue reading

As smartphones become more and more a common part of everyday life, so too do their potential to be used for harm. While we mostly rely on laws to protect us both criminals and less conscientious companies, sometimes the laws aren’t exactly clear or up to modern standards and have just enough grey areas for some enterprising people to take … Continue reading

So you go on a first date and things go really well, you click with the other person and you can’t wait to see them again. You also probably can’t wait to talk to them again, but is there such a thing as being too enthusiastic? Unfortunately that was the case for a woman in Phoenix, Arizona who sent her date a whopping 65,000 text messages after going on one date.
According to the report, the woman sent the man about 65,000 text messages in the course of 17 months, with as many as 500 in a single day after going out on one date with him, according to the police reports. The prosecutor also revealed threatening text messages from her which reads, “Don’t ever try to leave me. I’ll kill you. I don’t wanna be a murderer.”
She also threatened to kill him if he left her, and would “wear his body parts” and “bathe in his blood”. At some point when the man was out of town, she even broke into his home and took a bath in his tub, where he called the police who showed up and discovered that she had a large butcher knife in the front seat of her car.
She was subsequently charged for felony trespassing and when she failed to appear in court, a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was later arrested after she showed up at the man’s business and claimed to be his wife. It was also later discovered she used to stay in Florida but moved to Arizona after meeting the man. Speaking to reporters from jail, the woman said, “I told him that if he ever blocked me on this app, that I would come move here. And he blocked me, so I came here.”

There is no doubt that taking exams can be stressful, especially if you need a good grade whether it be to get into the school of your choice, or to prevent yourself from being kicked out, and so on. However what lengths would you go to get a good grade? In the case of a 16-year old high school student from Concord, California, phishing was the answer.
In a report from KTVU (via Gizmodo), the teen was arrested with the help of US Secret Service after he had launched a phishing campaign on his teachers to try and figure out their passwords. The emails sent to the teachers provided a link to a website that had been designed to mirror the school’s portal, and at least one teacher entered their credentials after falling for it.
Using that stolen information, the student went on to change his grades along with other students. In some cases he raised the grades of some, while lowering the grades of others. Law enforcement eventually caught wind of the scheme and managed to obtain the IP addresses associated with the site, where it eventually led to the arrest of the student.
He was then charged with 14 felony counts. Speaking to ABC7, the student was quoted as saying, “It was like stealing candy from a baby.” He has since been suspended from school and is awaiting a court date.

The problem with web-based emails is that if you wanted to check your emails, you would need an internet connection. This shouldn’t be an issue if you’re at work or at home or in school, but what if you’re on the go and traveling and there’s no good/reliable internet connection? We suppose that might be that for some, but not for Gmail.
It seems that Google has started to roll out an offline mode for Gmail on the web. What this means is that Gmail users will be able to read and respond to emails even when offline. Now obviously responses made when offline means that they won’t and can’t be sent, but they will once a connection has been made.
That being said, users who wish to take advantage of this offline mode will require Google Chrome 61 or higher. They will also need to go into their Settings and choose how many days worth of messages that they want to keep offline. If there are messages older than the specified date, then you will not be able to access them.
For more details on Gmail’s offline mode which is part of the new design, head on over to Google’s support page to find out.
