Now that SpaceX’s final Falcon 9 design has launched for the first time, there’s a looming question: how many more launches does the vehicle have left? Elon Musk has an idea. He estimated that SpaceX will build 30 to 40 more Falcon 9 cores for “~30…
In its bid to prevent credit card fraud, the New York Police Department has started testing a new device called the “Skim Reaper,” a play on skimmers, the devices that are used by criminals to steal credit card information. The skim reaper has been developed by a University of Florida team consisting of two graduate students and an engineering professor.
The device slides into credit card readers at public locations such as gas stations and ATMs to immediately detect the presence of an additional “read head.” The extra readers are what scammers use to scan the victim’s card and copy information which is then used to create duplicate cards.
Professor Patrick Traynor and his team provided the NYPD with five skim reapers back in February and it has proven to be helpful in the tests. The first skimmer was found using this device at an ATM in Brooklyn.
NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force Deputy Inspector Christopher Flanagan believes that this technology will enable the department to expand its crackdown on skimmers as any officer will be able to inspect machines even if they don’t have the special training that skimming detectives go through.
Traynor has said that it costs around $50 to build one of these devices right now but says that he’s working to bring the cost down.

When it comes to enjoying your favorite tunes, many of us would have a pair of headphones that we simply cannot make do without. Of course, some of us might settle for a more affordable pair simply because our ears cannot tell the difference, while audiophiles would look for something else that is going to cost a whole lot more for the sake of audio quality. Marshall, a name that has long delivered quality headphones, has just introduced the Major III. The Major III is the latest incarnation of Marshall’s most popular headphone, having sold more than a couple of million units ever since it was launched in 2010.
What makes the Major III headphones stand out from its predecessors? Well, there have been updates worked into this latest model, including new drivers for improved sound characteristics, updated ear cushions for comfortable all-day wear so that your ears will not feel the burn, in addition to real vinyl details for that added touch of class. In line with keeping to the modern trends, the Major III headphones will also arrive in a wireless Bluetooth version for folks who would prefer to live out an untethered lifestyle, while there is also a standard wired version that will suit your listening needs.
The Major III and Major III Bluetooth will boast of new 40mm dynamic drivers that have been optimized and carefully tuned in order to deliver improved sound characteristics. Either way, you can enjoy a clearer, more defined sound without having to compromise on power at lower frequencies. The Major III Bluetooth makes use of Bluetooth aptX technology so that you can enjoy up to 30 hours of non-stop wireless music playback, now how about that for long lasting performance?
Regardless of which particular version you finally decide to settle for, both of them happen to be instant modern classics that have been re-engineered for a cleaner, refined design. The silhouette will remain true to its original form, and the Major III and Major III Bluetooth headphones can already be purchased for $79 and $150, respectively.

Google introduced the “Clear All” button in the multitasking or recent apps menu with Android Nougat and it has been a stable in its mobile operating system since then. The company opened up the first public beta of the upcoming Android P earlier this week and many were surprised to find out that the Clear Apps button had gone missing. Naturally, they wanted more clarity on the matter and Google has now promised that the button will be brought back in future builds of Android P.
A common misconception is that using the Clear All button to get rid of the apps in the recent apps menu is going to speed up the device or somehow make it run smoother. That’s not what it does. It’s just an easy way of keeping the recent apps menu uncluttered.
You’ll know just how much time this little button can save you if you’re one of the many people who have dozens of apps running in the background and tend to switch between quite a few of them frequently. Google’s David Burke has now confirmed that while the latest Android P developer preview doesn’t have the Clear All apps button it will be reinstated in an upcoming build.
The team had initially decided to drop this button after seeing that the new side-scrolling apps list in Android P didn’t really warrant a need for it anymore but it will prove to be quite useful nonetheless from a multitasking point of view, which is precisely why users raised their voices and compelled Google to bring it back.

There have been multiple reports over the past couple of weeks suggesting that BlackBerry will soon be launching a new handset. The certification listings that have been spotted so far suggest that this new device will be a successor to the BlackBerry KeyOne. Officially called the BlackBerry Key2, the company is going to officially announce this device next month.
BlackBerry Mobile revealed the BlackBerry Key2 launch date through its official Twitter account. It has confirmed that an event is going to take place in New York on June 7th at 10 am. The tweet also confirms that this handset is going to be called the BlackBerry Key2 officially.
No further details have been revealed at this point in time but seeing as how it’s a successor to the KeyOne, it’s safe to say that the handset is going to have a full QWERTY keyboard. Other reports suggest that it’s going to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB of RAM and possibly even a dual camera which would be the first for a BlackBerry-branded handset.
The device will obviously be powered by Android given that BlackBerry is no longer making devices powered by its own operating system. It remains to be seen, though, when the Key2 is actually going to be released and how much it’s going to cost.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, Apple has a new version of the iPhone SE in the pipeline. Word on the street is that the company is likely going to announce the iPhone SE 2 this September. The timeline is as obvious as it can get given that it’s around the same time when Apple announces new iPhones for the year. What this does hint at is the possibility that the iPhone SE 2 might be announced alongside the flagship models that Apple also has in the pipeline.
Macotakara reports that contrary to previous reports that the iPhone SE 2 will be launched before the new flagship models, the cheaper handset is going to be launched in September instead.
The report also adds that Apple has “several” models of the device under consideration and that it hasn’t decided on the final design as yet. One model is said to feature a 4 inch display that’s similar to the existing iPhone SE while the other features a 6 inch display.
It’s also believed that the iPhone SE 2 will have a notched display as well much like the iPhone X with the notch being used to house the TrueDepth camera which would bring features like Face ID and Animoji to the cheaper handset.
It’s too soon to be sure about any of this and Apple itself hasn’t hinted anything about a new iPhone SE so take all of this with a grain of salt until we have more to go on.
