Nintendo Also Updates Warranty After FTC Warning

The Federal Trade Commission recently issued warnings to multiple companies including Sony and Nintendo reminding them that stickers on their products that claim that the warranty will be void if they are removed are illegal. The FTC had sent them warning letters earlier this month to bring to their notice that their warranties might be in conflict with U.S. law. Sony has already updated its warranty policies following the warning letter and Nintendo has now done the same.

The companies that received the warning letters from FTC include Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, ASUS, and HTC. The letters were sent to warn them that their warranties which claimed that customers couldn’t use third-party parts, accessories, or that if they removed the warranty stickers might be against the law of the land.

The FTC had given the companies 30 days to comply with the changes that it had recommended or be ready to face legal action. It happens to be illegal for manufacturers to claim that the warranty on a product will be void just because the customer repaired it by themselves.

Nintendo has now updated its warranty policies to reflect that “Nintendo provides warranty service for defects not caused by the user or by other unauthorized acts.” The revised warranty terms can now be found at support.nintendo.com.

You Will Be Able To Order A Dual-Motor Tesla Model 3 From Next Week

Tesla has received countless orders for the Model 3, its first mass-market electric car, and while the company continues to struggle to ramp up production so as to meet its delivery targets, it’s going to open up orders for a new model of the mass market electric car soon. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed that customers will be able to order a dual motor Tesla Model 3 from the company starting next week.

This announcement can also be taken as a sign that the situation is improving on the Model 3 production line. Musk has confirmed through Twitter that the company will now be able to take orders for the dual motor Model 3 by the end of next week.

Those customers who have been waiting for the all-wheel-drive model can now find out how much they will have to pay for the options and get their orders in. Tesla is expected to start production on the dual motor models in July which is in line with what Musk had promised last month.

Some Tesla fans might remember that the dual motors used to be a $5,000 option on the Tesla Model S before the company offered it as part of the standard kit. The all-wheel-drive option is now part of the standard kit on the Model X as well. Musk also mentioned in his tweet that the air suspension option for the Model 3 could be available by next year.

Watch Boston Dynamics’ SpotMini Navigate Around the Office

Boston Dynamics continues to build out their robotic menagerie with more sophisticated, agile, and intelligent robots. A recently published video shows the company’s SpotMini robot autonomously navigating around their offices. It basically just shows off the fact that these things will be able to seek and destroy humans, even in an office environment. And climbing stairs won’t help you. It has zero problems with stairs. Office dwellers of the future can kiss their sedentary butts goodbye.

The takeaway here is that there’s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. Don’t even bother trying. It’s better to just sit at your desk having a last meal and putting the final touches on that spreadsheet. By the way, they were kind enough to include the robot’s Terminator-vision this video so you can see the world the way it sees it.

Robot dogs will be the death of us. Meanwhile, I don’t see these scientists building any robot cats. That proves that they are out to kill us all and claim the world for themselves, where they can be kings over their robot and non-scientist human slaves. Yes folks, that’s what happens when you make fun of nerds. They grow up to build killer robots. So please stop the bullying, before we all pay the price.

Boston Dynamics SpotMini Robot Will Go On Sale In 2019

Robotics company Boston Dynamics has released countless videos which reveal just how far along it has come with its technological advancements since its early days. One of its more intriguing creations is the SpotMini robot which kind of looks like a dog. The videos it has released of the SpotMini have shown the robot navigating around an office on its own, opening a door for a second SpotMini robot, and even resisting interference by a human. The company has now announced that it’s going to start selling its SpotMini robot from next year.

Boston Dynamics President Marc Raibert has confirmed at a conference that the company will start selling the SpotMini robot from next year.

It has 10 prototypes of the four-legged robot right now and is planning to build 100 units this year. The company is going to work with its manufacturing partners to increase the production of the robot before it starts selling the SpotMini in 2019.

The one detail that many would likely be most interested in hasn’t been revealed by Raibert as yet. He didn’t say how much the SpotMini will cost. His talk did expand on the possible use cases for the robot which include security patrols and management of construction sites, then again, this isn’t a robot that’s meant to help you around the house.

Spotify Expanding To The Middle East This Year

Spotify is the most widely used music streaming service. It announced earlier this month that there are now 75 million people who are paying for its premium tier. Spotify continues its search for new subscribers, paid and free alike, by expanding into new markets gradually. According to a new report, the Swedish company is going to officially expand into the Middle East by launching in the United Arab Emirates first later this year.

A source with knowledge of the plans told MENAbytes that the world’s leading music streaming service, Spotify, is going to expand in the MENA region by first coming to the United Arab Emirates in the fourth quarter of this year.

Spotify has reportedly leased office space in Dubai already. This was also mentioned in Spotify’s recent filing with the SEC which confirmed that it now has office space in a number of cities across the globe, including Dubai.

The company has started hiring for at least four new positions that will be positioned in the Dubai office, the positions include Senior Editor for Middle East & Africa and Technical Account Manager for Middle East & North Africa among others.

Spotify will be going up against Anghami in this region. It’s the leading music streaming service in the MENA region. Based in Beirut, the startup boasts 40 million listeners in this region and already has licensing agreements with all major Arabic record labels as well as with international labels such as EMI, Universal, Sony, and Warner.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX GPUs Back In Stock At Original Prices

The cryptocurrency mining gold rush made it very difficult for people to get their hands on GPUs as the bulk of the supply was picked up by those setting up their mining rigs, leaving little to no stock for gamers who wanted to upgrade their machines. They either had to wait or pay a premium to get a graphics card over the manufacturer suggested retail price. That frenzy has calmed a bit in recent months, though, and NVIDIA has now announced that its 10-Series GeForce GTX GPUs are back in stock at many retailers at their original prices.

The mining rush made it difficult for people to get their hands on a GPU. The intense demand drove up prices considerably which when coupled with the supply shortage made things even worse. However, with cryptocurrency prices going through a slump and new mining technologies reducing their reliance on GPUs, things are finally looking up for the average graphics card buyer.

NVIDIA has confirmed through its social media channels that customers can now purchase its 10-Series GeForce GTX GPUs easily as they’re back in stock at multiple retailers. All of the cards are being sold at their original MSRPs which range from $150 to $800 depending on the card purchased.

Gamings fans will certainly be delighted to find out now that they can pick up NVIDIA GPUs right away and that too at their original prices. Many have been putting off updating their rigs for months so it’s a much-deserved win for them. Those who prefer AMD GPUs are still out of luck, though, as they remain sold out online primarily due to their popularity among miners as well.
