PC gaming headsets are generally great accessories to have, but they can be miserable devices to use in the middle of a hot, muggy summer. Some peripherals manufacturers have tried to find a solution to this by launching cooling headsets, but today, we’re seeing HP take a new approach to solving the problem with its OMEN Mindframe headset. The headset … Continue reading
The latest in LG’s Android V series has broken cover, with the LG V35 ThinQ borrowing the AI-minded branding of its siblings along with the G7 ThinQ’s twin camera setup. More important for some, there’s also no notched display. Indeed, it’s hard not to see the V35 ThinQ as being a revamp – not a reinvention – of the V30 … Continue reading

Epic Games has brought a lot of interesting content to Fortnite through the game’s weekly updates but vehicles have not been one of them. Competing titles like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have long enabled players to travel throughout the map with vehicles like trucks, cars, and motorcycles but that has not been the case with Fortnite which only recently added jetpacks for a limited time. The latest update does bring a vehicle (of sorts) in the form of shopping carts.
It makes sense why shopping carts would be added as the first vehicle in Fortnite given that the game’s theme is far removed from reality and based in a cartoon-ish world with gameplay to match.
Epic Games has said that shopping carts will be scattered across the world in different locations so players will be able to push one around on their own or ride shotgun in one while their teammate pushes them.
That’s not all, the latest update also adds a new restorative item in the form of mushrooms. Players who find them in the shady wooded or swampy areas will be able to replenish shields by 5 units. Blitx v2 and Teams of 20 v2 modes are also available for a limited time as part of this update. More details about what’s included in the weekly Fortnite update are available on Epic Games’ website.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips are primarily used for powering smartphones but they have also been repurposed for notebooks and virtual reality headsets. However, the company has now announced the launch of its first dedicated platform for augmented reality and virtual reality headsets. The Qualcomm Snapdragon XR1 has been announced at the Augmented World Expo, it’s the company’s first dedicated platform for mixed reality devices.
The platform is powered by an ARM-based CPU, a GPU, and a vector processor as well as an artificial intelligence engine. The AI engine will help the device perform enhanced artificial intelligence tasks on the device itself. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The chip can support UHD 4K video resolution at up to 60fps for virtual reality headsets, 3D overlays, dual displays, and popular graphics APIs such as Vulkan, OpenGL, and Open CL. Noise reduction for clearer picture quality is enabled by the platform’s Spectra image signal processor.
Devices based on this platform will also feature 3-DoF and 6-DoF interactive controls aside from support for audio technologies like Aqstic, aptX, and 3D Audio Suite. The head-related transfer feature will allow users’ ears to synthesize binaural sound for a more immersive experience, they will feel as if sound is coming from a specific point in space.
Qualcomm today revealed that manufacturers like Vive, Vuzix, Meta, and Picoare have already started developing products based on its XR1 platform.

DJI may be famous for its drones but the company also makes a variety of other products that are meant for photography and videography enthusiasts. Take its new Ronin S for example, it’s a single-handed stabilizer for DSLR cameras and it’s meant for those who want to capture shake-proof video with their DSLRs. The Ronin S single-handed stabilizer features 3-axis stabilization to ensure that the video shots remain completely steady. It also offers automated smart features and increased focus control.
The company had launched its Ronin S handheld gimbal for hybrid cameras at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in January this year and it’s now finally ready to start shipping it to customers. The powerful high-torque motors of this device can support a payload of 8 pounds to house the popular camera and lens combinations.
Its advanced stabilization algorithms work in tandem with in-camera and in-lens optical stabilization technology to achieve smooth video. The maximum operating speed was tested at 47mph with a Panasonic GH5 and 50mm lens while mounted to a moving vehicle with an optional top hot-shoe bracket.
DJI’s intelligent battery system is built into the handle and it promises an operating time of 12 hours. Interested customers can place a pre-order for the Ronin S starting today at the company’s website. It costs $699. DJI stores and authorized dealers across the globe will start selling it in late June.
