Google’s I/O 2018 conference kicked off with a lot of talk and demos of AI and machine learning. It painted a future of wonderful convenience but left audiences and readers wondering about the ramifications of an AI-powered world. This dichotomy, confusion, and fear was perhaps best shown in the demonstration of Duplex, an AI that sounded so human that it … Continue reading
One of the biggest sellers in all the automotive realm is the Ford F-150 truck. Ford had to stop production of the F-150 this week due to a parts shortage from a supplier. The reason for the parts shortage was a major fire at that supplier. The same fire forced other automakers to also halt or at least slow production. … Continue reading
Welcome to Friday! We’re wrapping up our Google I/O coverage today, but we’ve also taken a behind-the-scenes look at how the Guardians of the Galaxy got a redesigned ship, a possible due date on the end of Net Neutrality and a robot frolicking in a…
Forgotton Anne looks like a gentle animated feature film you can’t quite remember the name of, with an art style somewhere between Studio Ghibli and those curious kids’ animation series I used to watch from Europe. The charming characters, mostly ant…
Gone are the days when you wanted to watch a show, you’d either have to turn on network or cable TV to do so. These days there are so many options for users, and companies like Netflix and YouTube have made a business out of delivering that content to users wherever they go, regardless of what device they use.
It seems to be a pretty successful business model because it looks like YouTube Red’s Cobra Kai series has done well enough for it to warrant a renewal of the series for a second season. The series for the first season was released earlier this month and was available for streaming via YouTube Red.
According to Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content, “This series had all of the right elements from the very beginning — compelling characters, a storied rivalry, and the talented original stars. The way viewers have embraced the new twist on this beloved franchise has been nothing short of amazing, and we’re thrilled to partner with Sony TV, Overbrook and the extraordinary creative team led by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg to create a second season.”
For those unfamiliar, Cobra Kai is essentially the sequel of sorts to the original Karate Kid movie. It sees the return of Ralph Macchio and William Zabka who reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence in the original movie.

As it stands, Rocket League already supports cross-platform play, but unfortunately what it lacks is cross-platform party support. This means that while you might be able to play with other players on different platforms, you won’t actually be able to form parties with them and play together.
However the good news is that will change this coming summer. Announced on the Rocket League website, the developers behind the game have confirmed that cross-platform party support will be arriving this July. It will be a relatively straightforward process where users have to first register an ID that’s a combination between a name and a unique code, after which they can add friends by their ID and party up with them in games.
If this sounds familiar, it is because at the start of the year, Psyonix did announce that they will be bringing cross-platform party support to the game, but they did not mention when that will be taking place. However this announcement confirms that we will be able to look forward to the new feature in the coming months, so do keep an eye out for it if this sounds like something you and your friends have been looking forward to.
In the meantime additional details about upcoming changes and updates to the game can be found on Rocket League’s website.

While gifting games isn’t exactly a new concept for other platforms, Microsoft is a bit behind on that concept and it was only late last year that gifting was made available on the Xbox One. However the good news is that if you wanted to gift PC games, you’ll be pleased to learn that it is now available as well through the Microsoft Store.
This means that if you or someone you know tends to make their purchases through the Microsoft Store, then this feature means that you’ll be able to send and receive gifts through the platform. According to Microsoft, it seems that this feature has been popular amongst Xbox gamers, so much so that they’ve decided to extend it to the Microsoft Store as well.
However take note that there will be some limitations imposed on Microsoft Store gifting. If you plan on gifting games that have been discounted, it seems that you will only be limited to 10 discounted products every 14 days. We’re not sure if there are even so many games on discount at once to begin with, but it’s something to consider. However when it comes to gifting full purchases, there are obviously no limits.
This feature should already be live and available to users, so fire up the Microsoft Store if you’d like to check it out.

For the most part, the iPhones that typically excite customers the most would be the flagship iPhones. This might explain why more budget-friendly handsets like the iPhone 5c and the iPhone SE were never really talked about much. However if a recent render is any indication of what the iPhone SE 2 could look like, it might prove to be rather interesting.
According to the folks at Mobile Fun, they have received a render of what is said to be that of the iPhone SE 2. Note that this render is not an official render nor is it a leaked render, but it is a render based on a case maker who believes that the iPhone SE 2 will not only sport an edge-to-edge display, but also a notch similar to that of the iPhone X.
So far the rumors of the iPhone SE 2 claim that it is expected to feature wireless charging, and a photo leaked last month showed off its glass back plate which seems to corroborate those claims. The photos did not show the front of the phone so it is unclear as to how accurate these renders are.
It is possible that the case maker might simply be getting ahead of themselves in a bid to guess what Apple will do to try and get products to the market ahead of the competition, so do take it with a grain of salt for now. Apple is already rumored to launch at least three iPhones this year, and with the iPhone SE 2, it will make it four.

A lot of the things we experience on a daily basis are taken for granted. For example sometimes we complain about how gloomy the sky is, or how bright it is, but never did we consider that there are some who live in perpetual darkness due to either being blind or are visually impaired somehow.
However we’ve seen various companies try to use technology to help the blind see again, such as Google who have recently launched an app called Lookout that helps the blind/visually impaired learn about their surroundings by identifying objects around them and giving users audio cues.
According to Google, “There are over 253 million blind or visually impaired people in the world. To make the world more accessible to them, we need to build tools that can work with the ever-changing environment around us. Our new Android app Lookout, coming to the Play Store in the U.S this year, helps people who are blind or visually impaired become more independent by giving auditory cues as they encounter objects, text and people around them.”
This is similar to what Microsoft previously launched which also uses sound and audio cues to let the blind or visually impaired know what’s around them. Recently Ford also created a similar concept for their car windows, where braille would be used to tell passengers what’s outside.
