Schlage’s Smart Lock Now Plays Nicely With Amazon’s Alexa

Due to the variety of smart home objects there are out there in the market, as well as the myriad of digital assistants, sometimes it can be confusing and a bit difficult to find the balance between a smart home object you want and also a digital assistant that plays nicely with it. The good news for Alexa users is that you now have at least one more option in terms of smart locks.

Schlage has announced that the Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt and Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt both play nicely with Amazon’s Alexa. What does this mean? This means that through voice commands, users will be able to control the smart lock. However they will first have to setup a unique PIN that must be spoken in order for it to unlock, although we’re not sure if that’s such a great idea since anyone can hear it.

According to Schlage, “The feature is disabled by default for security. Users will be required to log into their Amazon Alexa app using their password to enable the feature initially, and then create a unique PIN, which must be spoken before Alexa unlocks the door. The feature is immediately disabled after three incorrect voice code attempts.”

With the launch of this feature, users have more control over their Schlage locks. Previously users could only use their voice to lock their docks and check on its status, but the launch of this feature will give users more control over it.

All iPhone Battery Replacements Are Available Without Delay

When Apple announced that they would be holding a $29 battery replacement program for its iPhones, it wasn’t surprising to see Apple Stores swamped with customers who were trying to get in on the offer. So much so that Apple had announced that batteries for some iPhone models, namely the iPhone 6 Plus, were out of stock and had to be delayed.

The good news is that if you have been waiting to get your iPhone’s battery fixed/replaced, you’ll be pleased to learn that Apple has since announced that battery replacements for all iPhone models are available without delay. This is based on an internal memo distributed to Apple Stores and various authorized service providers.

What does this mean? This means that if you were to walk into an Apple Store or an Authorized Service Provider to get your iPhone battery replaced, you won’t be subject to any delays as far as inventory is concerned. There might be some waiting involved when it comes to the actual replacement progress, but your mileage may vary depending on the store and how busy they are.

According to MacRumors, they have heard from their sources that Apple has actually hired third-party contractors and reassigned existing AppleCare employees to help clear the backlog of iPhone battery replacements at some of their stores.

Nintendo’s First Mobile Game Has Officially Shut Down

When Nintendo first announced plans to launch mobile games, many were understandably excited, although that excitement turned to confusion when Nintendo chose to launch Miitomo as their debut title. There was some interest at the start, but that eventually faded resulting in Nintendo announcing earlier this year that the game would be shutting down.

For those who are still playing or have played Miitomo, it seems that the game has officially shut down. In a message posted by Nintendo, “We want to thank you for enjoying Miitomo so much. Miitomo’s service has come to an end as of Wednesday 9th May 2018, 16:00 (JST). We’ve come a long way since the app was launched, and once again we want to thank everyone who’s been involved.”

With that, it seems that Nintendo’s first mobile title has officially come to an end, although clearly this is not the end of Nintendo’s mobile efforts. The company does have several games in the works, such as a Mario Kart for mobile. They have also recently announced the launch of a brand new IP designed exclusively for mobile.

Nintendo’s mobile offerings have been something of a mixed bag. For example Super Mario Run which looked promising ended up not being as profitable as Nintendo would like, but hopefully the company’s future offerings will change that.
