Two New Pokemon Games Announced For The Nintendo Switch

While there has been some Pokemon variants available for the Nintendo Switch, safe to say that many have been anticipating the launch of a Pokemon game that is usually found on Nintendo’s handheld consoles. The good news is that if you’ve been anticipating such a game, you’re in luck.

This is because Nintendo has not only announced one, but two brand new Pokemon games that will be headed onto the Nintendo Switch. These games are dubbed Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! and they are set for a release on the Nintendo Switch come 16th of November, 2018. This echoes an earlier report which hinted at a November release, and it also confirms another report which suggested that the game could borrow some elements from Pokemon GO.

That being said, we should point out that the new Let’s Go titles won’t introduce brand new Pokemon and will instead be based on Pokemon Yellow. The folks at Polygon spoke to director Junichi Masuda who told them, “Let’s Go! Pikachu and Let’s Go! Eevee are kind of inspired and based on Pokémon Yellow version. They had added elements from the animated series, like Team Rocket and the characters that appeared in the animated series. It’s one of those things that made it resonate more with young kids at the time. When we were thinking of a game to go back to … we thought that this would be the next version.”

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing because from what we can tell, the games look fantastic with the use of modern graphics. Players will be able to play the game using the Joy-Con which will support throwing-like gestures to toss the Poke Balls. There will also be a separate accessory in the form of the Poke Ball Plus that can be used in place of a Joy-Con. There is also support for two-player simultaneous play, so if you want to play with a friend that’s possible too.

Players who have been diligently collecting Pokemon via Pokemon GO will also be able to transfer their caught Pokemon onto the Switch a Bluetooth connection. If you have a couple of minutes to spare, you can check out the trailer for the game in the video above.

Android P Will Be Coming To All Nokia Smartphones

The problem with Android is that updates are usually dictated by the company that makes your phones, meaning that if and when an update comes to your phone is at the discretion of the manufacturer. However the good news is that if you are planning on buying a Nokia phone or have an existing Nokia phone, you’ll be covered.

HMD Global has confirmed that all Nokia phones released by the company will be updated to Android P. This will include the Nokia 1 up to the Nokia 8 Sirocco and anything in between. Prior to this, back in October 2017 HMD already stated that all existing Nokia phones would be getting Android P, but this latest confirmation suggests that the update will cover all recently launched phones as well.

Of course the question is how long can HMD keep this up? After all the company has a significantly smaller portfolio compared to more established manufacturers, so whether or not they’ll be able to maintain this momentum for the foreseeable future remains to be seen, but for now we reckon it’s a pretty good start.

As it stands Android fragmentation is an issue as it means that most Android users only get to enjoy the update anywhere from half a year up to a year after it is released. This is why Android’s distribution stats always show that older versions of Android tend to have a greater market share than the latest release.

Brand New, Core Pokemon RPG Will Arrive On The Switch In 2019

It was previously confirmed that there would be a Pokemon RPG developed for the Nintendo Switch. However with Pokemon: Let’s Go! having recently been announced, are those the games we’ve been hearing so much about? The good news is that it isn’t, because not only can Switch gamers expect two new Pokemon games this year, but there will also be a brand new core Pokemon RPG that will arrive for the Switch next year.

This was confirmed by Pokemon director, producer, and composer Junichi Masuda who told reporters, “Now today I can only tell you of it’s existence, but it’s another game we’re pouring all of our creativity into. I hope you look forward to it while also enjoying Pokemon Quest and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee.”

We know it’s a bit confusing but basically two new Pokemon games will be launching this year on the Switch. However those games will not feature new Pokemon and are instead reminiscent of Pokemon Yellow, which like we said before isn’t necessarily a bad thing and is designed to introduce new players to the world of Pokemon.

However for seasoned players who want something new, that’s where is core Pokemon RPG comes in, although details are a bit scarce for now save for its launch in 2019. Masuda also revealed that the game will “follow in the tradition of Pokemon X and Y and Pokemon Sun and Moon.” We guess we’ll have to wait until 2019 to check it out, but in the meantime the new Pokemon: Let’s Go! titles are set for a release this coming November.
