Apple’s 6.5-inch iPhone Could Be Similar In Size To iPhone 8 Plus

We’ve been hearing rumors that Apple could launch three new iPhones this year, one of which could be a 6.5-inch model. Now according to a report from Mac Otakara, additional details about the rumored 6.5-inch iPhone have been revealed, namely its size/dimension in which the report claims it could be similar to the iPhone 8 Plus.

As it stands the iPhone Plus series of phones feature a 5.5-inch display, but due to the bezels of the phone, it makes it larger than the iPhone X which has a slightly larger display. If the report is true, then the 6.5-inch is expected to sport some pretty thin bezels along with an edge-to-edge display if it is going to be of the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus.

For those looking for a bit of context and comparison, Mac Otakara has posted several photos of mockup that you can see in the photo above. Based on these mockups, it seems that the 6.5-inch iPhone could be slightly bigger than the iPhone 8 Plus, but if you’ve no problems using the iPhone 8 Plus or Apple’s other Plus iPhones, then this shouldn’t be an issue.

Previous reports have claimed that Apple is also expected to keep its 5.8-inch iPhone and will also be launching a 6.1-inch iPhone. The 6.1-inch model is rumored to be the more affordable model as it will sport an LCD screen instead of an OLED.

Twitter Reportedly Developing A ‘Secret’ Encrypted Messages Feature

Messaging apps and services these days are placing an emphasis on security and privacy where they’re including end-to-end encryption to protect the contents of messages being sent and received. Unfortunately this has resulted in apps and services raising the ire of several governments.

Oddly enough despite the competition offering such features, Twitter’s messaging feature isn’t encrypted, but the good news is that could change in the near future. Initially discovered by Jane Manchun Wong (via TechCrunch), it appears that Twitter could be working on a “Secret” messaging feature that basically encrypts your messages.

However it looks like this encryption feature could exist separate of the regular messaging feature, meaning that it is more for users who think that they might need such protection and privacy, rather than make it available by default to all users. This isn’t the first time that Twitter has been approached about creating such a feature.

A couple of years ago Edward Snowden proposed such an idea to Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey, in which Dorsey responded by saying that this is something they’ll think about. However based on this discovery, it seems that Twitter could now be actually actively doing something about it. When exactly it will be rolled out to users remains to be seen, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
