Instagram Makes It Easier For Businesses To Reply DMs

Instagram is useful not just for regular folks who want to keep tabs on friends and family and their favorite celebrities, but also for brands who can use Instagram to help announce new products, share contests and giveaways, and so on. We’ve seen Instagram launch tools to help businesses thrive on its platform, and one of the more recent changes is with messages.

Instagram has announced that they will be simplifying the inbox for businesses. This is due to the fact that businesses have probably hundreds of messages that they need to deal with on a daily basis, which means that it is easy for inboxes to get cluttered and confusing over time. With these changes, Instagram is hoping that managing your inbox will be an easier process.

According to Instagram, “Starting today, businesses will have a better way to manage their messages. Now you’ll see important new customer messages in your main Direct inbox, instead of in the pending folder. You can also star and filter your conversations to come back to messages you want to follow up on.”

Instagram has also announced that in the coming weeks, they’ll be testing out a quick replies feature so that businesses can respond quickly to commonly asked questions. At the moment this seems to be only applicable to business accounts, but smarter inbox management is a feature we’re sure regular users will be able to appreciate and hopefully it’ll be available to all users in the future.

Apple Patents Apple Watch With A Circular Design

Ahead of the Apple Watch’s launch several years ago, the competition for the most part were launching square-ish smartwatches. This led to rumors that Apple might go a different route and launch a round smartwatch instead, but as we all know this clearly did not happen, but on hindsight it seems like maybe it didn’t matter.

That being said, a recently discovered patent has revealed that Apple might have planned for a circular smartwatch, or at least explored the idea of such a device. According to Apple’s description of the patent, “A display may have an array of pixels. The array of pixels may have a shape such as a circular shape or other shape with a curved edge.”

However given that this a patent, there’s no telling if this will ever be made into an actual product. However even if it was, Apple would not be the first company to create a circular smartwatch. Motorola beat Apple to that with the launch of the Moto 360 back in the day and other companies like Samsung have followed suit.

That being said, there have been rumors suggesting that Apple is expected to stick to the current design of the Apple Watch, except that they might increase the screen by a bit for 2018’s model. Whether or not that is true remains to be seen, but what do you guys think? Would a circular Apple Watch be something you might prefer?

Ring Launches Its ‘Neighbors’ App On iOS & Android

Ring is the company that some of you might be familiar with as the company that specializes in home security equipment, such as its video doorbell. Now the company has announced the launch of a new app called Neighbors that basically leverages its technology and creates what might be described as a hi-tech version of a neighborhood watch program.

However the good news is that if you wanted to participate in Neighbors, you won’t need to own any Ring hardware. Instead what the app does is that it leverages the social networking aspect of the Ring app where users will be able to leave photos and text responses on a map of their neighborhood. For example they will be able to leave notes to log any suspicious behavior they might have spotted which in turn will also alert other residents to it.

Law enforcement will also be joining the network so that they will be able to keep a better eye even remotely, and also be able to respond to certain notifications that they get from residents. According to Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor and Founder of Ring, “Neighbors is meant to facilitate real-time communication between these groups, while maintaining neighbor privacy first and foremost. By bringing security to every neighbor with the free Neighbors app, communities can stay on top of crime and safety alerts as they happen.”

If you’d like to check out the app, head on over to the iTunes App Store or Google Play for the free download.
