Science says that about 700 million years ago the Earth was covered from pole to pole in a massive amount of ice and snow. This period is called “Snowball Earth” by scientists and a wealth of theories have surfaced over the years to explain what might have caused this to happen. The latest theory suggests that the root cause of … Continue reading

Netflix’s ‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 Trailer Released

We’ve known that Netflix’s Luke Cage would be returning for a second season and if you are interested in seeing how his story continues, you’ll be pleased to learn that a new trailer for the upcoming season has been released where we also get a glimpse at Luke Cage’s new enemy antagonist for the season.

In terms of enemies, it seems that Mariah from the first season will be making her return, but the second season’s new antagonist comes in the form of Bushmaster, a bad guy from the Marvel comics. It is unclear how faithful this interpretation of Bushmaster will be to the comics, but from the trailer he looks powerful enough to defeat Luke Cage, something that for the most part is almost impossible to do.

The second season will also see the return of several familiar faces, such as Claire Temple and Misty Knight, who judging by the trailer manages to get a brand new bionic arm that’s her signature look from the comics. If all of this sounds good and you can’t wait to check it out, then you’ll be pleased to learn that the show will be released on the 22nd of June, 2018 which means that we have just a little over a month left of waiting.

Researchers Develop ‘Skin Printer’ To Help Burn Victims

There are various ways to treat those who have suffered burns on their bodies, but it seems that researchers at the University of Toronto have created what is being called as the “skin printer”, where it acts like white-out tape except for the skin. This method has several advantages over existing methods of treatment.

One of the ways to treat burns is to graft skin on top of the burnt area. However this requires healthy skin to be removed from a donor which sometimes might be hard to find, depending on the circumstance. Another method would be to use 3D printers to print “skin”, but according to one of the researchers, Professor Axel Guenther, this isn’t as practical because 3D bioprinters are too big, too slow, and expensive.

However with their handheld skin printer, the researchers have created a device that can form tissue and setting it on the person’s body all within two minutes or even less. Of course this isn’t the all-in-one solution when it comes to treating burns, but it is one of the ways to help speed up the treatment process.

So far the skin printer has yet to be tested on human subjects so it is unclear as to how effective this method of treatment might be, so far it has been tested on pigs and there are plans to scale up the printer so that it will be able to cover slightly wider surfaces.

YouTube Pulls Over 1,000 Videos Over Essay Cheating Ads

These days it seems that YouTubers are getting smarter about working ads into videos. Instead of relying on YouTube to insert ads on their behalf, YouTubers are now adding their own ads directly into the videos from companies that are willing to sponsor them. Unfortunately this has resulted in ads that are sometimes questionable.

For example the BBC found in their investigation that there were multitudes of videos that contained ads for essay cheating services. Obviously this did not sit well with YouTube who gave these channels until the 4th of May to edit their videos to take out these ads, but that clearly did not happen resulting in over 1,000 videos being pulled.

While these ads aren’t exactly considered illegal, they do violate YouTube’s ad policies, and like we said given that they are edited into the videos directly, it does make it harder for YouTube to pick up on it which by then might have been too late. Unsurprisingly many creators have expressed their unhappiness with YouTube’s decision, with some claiming that they have lost months’ worth of video as a result.

They are also blaming YouTube for not communicating their policies more clearly on ads like these, in which YouTube has since responded by saying that they will be “working with creators going forward” to help them better understand what ads are acceptable and what are not.
