Top 10 mobile games of 2018 so far

Smartphones and, to some extent, tablets are great for doing almost everything. And by “almost everything”, we do mean it quite literally, from browsing the Web, binging on Netflix, typing articles like this, or, for the really adventurous, even coding and managing a website. Of course, mobile devices are also great for playing a game or two to relax or, … Continue reading

Razer Unveils Abyssus Essential Budget Gaming Mouse

When it comes to gaming mice, Razer is a company that probably comes to mind. The company has a variety of gaming mice designed for all kinds of games and needs and also price points. Now if price is something that is more of a priority, then you might be pleased to learn that Razer has unveiled the Abyssus Essential gaming mouse.

First of we should point out that the Abyssus Essential is not a new gaming mouse by any means. Instead this is a rebranding of an existing mouse, the Razer Jugan, which was previously launched in China. However Razer has decided to release the mouse worldwide and has given it a new name in the process.

As Razer also points out, the Abyssus Essential is also the successor to the Razer Abyssus V2 and in terms of features, it will come with Razer’s Chroma which adds an underglow lighting to the mouse. It also means that it will play nicely with the Chroma system which can react to different events in-game. The fact that the mouse is only $50 means that gamers on a budget won’t have to spend too much to enjoy these lighting effects as well.

There will also be a 7,200 DPI optical sensor and will feature an ambidextrous form factor, allowing gamers who are left or right-handed to use it without any issue. If this sounds like something you’re interested in, head on over to Razer’s website to purchase it.

Facebook Actively Looking Into Ad-Free Subscription-Based Tier

In recent weeks we have heard not just once, but twice, that Facebook could be considering the idea of a paid-version of its service, where users who are willing to pay a monthly subscription fee will not be shown ads. It seemed like comments made in passing, but according to a report from Bloomberg, it seems to be something Facebook is taking seriously.

The report claims that Facebook has been actively doing market research to determine if an ad-free subscription-based tier of its service might be something users could be interested in. The report also adds that this is something Facebook had previously explored, but there is apparent renewed interest in it, although it seems that there are no solid plans yet and that they are simply exploring the idea for now.

The idea of a paid-for Facebook could be an interesting one, and could also address some privacy concerns users might have. As it stands Facebook largely relies on ads for its revenue, and those ads are targeted ads based on user information. By allowing users to pay for Facebook, these users can then opt out of being targeted, or at the very least prevent their information from being shared with advertisers.

However there has been debate on such a feature because it essentially is like saying that those who can’t afford the subscription have no choice but to allow their data to be used by advertisers. In any case there’s no guarantee that an ad-free paid-for Facebook will launch, but what do you guys think? Is this something you might be interested in paying for?

LG Might Consider Allowing Users To Remap The G7’s Google Assistant Button

The rumors were true in that the LG G7 ThinQ did indeed launch with a physical button that let users launch Google Assistant. It was also proven true that LG would not allow users to remap the button to do something else, something that Samsung had also done with its Bixby button, but it seems that LG’s decision isn’t necessarily set in stone.

According to a report from Android Authority, it appears that LG isn’t completely shutting the door on remapping the Google Assistant button. LG claims that there are no plans to allow users to remap the button right now, but they also say that they might reconsider that stance should LG smartphone enthusiasts show an indication that they want it to happen.

Of course exactly how interested users have to be or what kind of metrics LG is basing this on is subjective and rather vague, but we suppose the upside is that they haven’t shut the door on that possibility just yet. While it’s not necessarily a bad idea to have a dedicated button to launch Google Assistant, we suppose what users are really after is the freedom to make that decision for themselves on what they want the button to do. Either way we won’t know if LG will be changing their minds anytime soon, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Rick and Morty Portal Umbrella Gives Rain the Finger

I think we have all gotten dressed in a funk early on a Monday and not bothered to look out the window until we open the door to leave. Typically we don’t look outside because we’ve been busy wondering just how bad would it be to not have a job. The only thing worse than a Monday heading off to work is a rainy Monday heading to work because you’ll need an umbrella, and people drive like idiots in the rain.

At least your umbrella can make you smile, assuming you opt for this Rick and Morty umbrella and not some boring ass basic black one.

This umbrella is the smallish portable type that can fit in a purse or backpack. It’s decorated with that portal green swirl, and when dry the umbrella has a white blob that looks kind of like bird poo on top. When it gets wet, Rick’s hand turns up in that blob giving the finger, because FU rain.
