The LG G7 ThinQ has a problem

Twenty-four hours after a new flagship smartphone debuts, we’re meant to be excited, and that means the LG G7 ThinQ has a problem. Yes, the name is silly – it’s pronounced “Think-Cue” not “Think,” incidentally – and sure, the notch is controversial, but LG’s biggest issue is apathy. A new smartphone is meant to be exciting. The G7 ThinQ is … Continue reading

Samsung Galaxy Apps Store Giving Away $500 In Credits

Some of you may know that Samsung has its own app store called Galaxy Apps. It’s pre-installed on all of the company’s smartphones that already come with the Google Play Store out of the box. The company often runs promotions and offers free goodies to users in a bid to get them to use its app store. That’s precisely what it’s doing these days in a new promotion that’s offering users $500 in free credits for in-app purchases.

Samsung is offering users who download games through Galaxy Apps $500 in collective credits that they can use for in-app purchases in these games. $500 is the combined value of all of the credits that it’s offering for the games that are a part of this promotion.

For example, if you download the game Cut the Rope 2 from Galaxy Apps you will get 10,000 Candy Coins that are worth $15. If you download Paradise Island 2, you get the $5 Starter Pack for free, and so on and so forth.

You obviously need a Samsung smartphone to take advantage of this promotion. Just launch Galaxy Apps and then look for the gift package icon in the top right. Follow the on-screen prompts and you will then be taken to a page which lists all of the games that are part of the promotion and the relative incentives that are offered for each title. This promotion is valid until May 16th so you have plenty of time to go through the list and get the title you want.

Sonos May Announce New Hardware At June 6th Event

Sonos today sent out invites to the press for an event that it’s going to host in June. The company hasn’t really revealed what it’s going to announce at this event but chances are that it’s going to treat us to some new hardware. The image in the event invite doesn’t give much away but suggests that it may have a home theater-like product up its sleeve.

A recent FCC filing by Sonos suggested that the company has a new smart speaker in development which it describes as a “high-performance, all-in-one home theater smart speaker and part of Sonos’ home sound system.”

It won’t be the first home theater offering from the company. It previously released the Playbase which was a soundbar designed to sit below the TV. Perhaps the most interesting revelation made by the FCC filing was that this new device is going to ditch the typical optical out for an HDMI port.

If that is indeed true, it would make it much easier to set up the device with existing entertainment systems. While it’s unclear if the new product is going to support HDMI 2.1, if it does support that format it would then enable compatibility with lossless audio formats such as Dolby Atmos.

Sonos has scheduled its event on June 6th. It’s going to take place in San Francisco.

God Of War Is The Fastest-Selling PS4 Exclusive

There’s no doubt that God of War has quickly become one of the most popular games ever released for the PlayStation 4. It’s the latest iteration in this very popular franchise and it has been very well received on Sony’s gaming platform. Sony today announced that the new title has achieved a major milestone. It has become the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive title in the console’s history.

The new God of War game was released on April 20th. Sony announced today that it sold 3.1 million units globally in the first three days after launch (April 20-22). This makes God of War the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive ever.

The title went in a slightly different direction compared to earlier God of War games. They focused on Greek mythology and were heavy on the action. This new title is focused on Norse mythology and while it’s not exactly light in the action department, it does have a more meaningful story that’s centered around a father-son duo.

Fans have really liked this new direction and have responded in kind by picking up God of War in droves. It has only been a couple of weeks since the game was released so one can expect that it will sell millions more in the months to come.
