Watch these robotic soccer players play a nail-biter of a match

As a hater of all sports I am particularly excited about the imminent replacement of humans with robots in soccer. If this exciting match, the Standard Platform League (SPL) final of the German Open featuring the Nao-Team HTWK vs. Nao Devils, is any indication the future is going to be great.

The robots are all NAO robots by SoftBank and they are all designed according to the requirements of the Standard Platform League. The robots can run (sort of), kick (sort of), and lift themselves up if they fall. The 21 minute video is a bit of a slog and the spectators are definitely not drunk hooligans but darn if it isn’t great to see little robots hitting the turf to grab a ball before it hits the goal.

I, for one, welcome our soccer-playing robot overlords.

HTC’s Next Flagship Confirmed For May 23 Reveal

HTC typically unveils their flagships in the early part of the year, but for some reason the company seems to be taking slightly longer than expected. However there is some good news for fans of the company’s products and that is you won’t have to wait much longer to find out what HTC is up to.

The company has posted an announcement on its Twitter page where they confirm that the official reveal of their next flagship handset will take place on the 23rd of May, 2018 which is a little less than three weeks away. HTC has chosen a rather interesting graphic for its invite which shows a teardown of smartphone components.

While HTC does not explicitly state what they will be announcing, chances are we could be looking at the HTC U12+ which has been rumored about for a while now. According to leaked specs, the phone is said to be packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with a 5.5-inch QHD+ display, 8GB of RAM, a 12MP rear-facing UltraPixel 4 camera, dual front-facing cameras, and will also feature water and dust resistance which is more or less what can be expected from flagship phones these days.

As for its design, it’s really anyone’s guess but it will be interesting to see if HTC could adopt the notch design that more than one Android OEM has adopted despite the criticism that Apple faced with the iPhone X.

Potential Samsung Galaxy S10 Codename Revealed

Unless Samsung’s plans change drastically, it’s almost a guarantee that come 2019, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S10. Now it might be a bit early to start speculating what the phone could feature, especially with the Galaxy Note 9 having yet to launch, but it seems that early rumors are already making their rounds.

According to a report from Korea (via SamMobile), a possible codename for the Galaxy S10 might have been revealed to be “Beyond”. Samsung seems to have a penchant for lofty codenames for its flagship phones, as pointed out by SamMobile where the Galaxy S8 was codenamed Dream, and the Galaxy S9 was codenamed Star.

In addition to revealing a possible codename for the Galaxy S10 (or whatever Samsung plans on calling it), the report adds that Samsung is still on the fence with regards to adding a 3D camera to the phone to improve on its facial recognition capabilities. This is something that Android handset makers have been rumored to be doing ever since Apple introduced Face ID.

However some analysts believe that Android handset makers are at least 2 years behind Apple on the tech, which means that if it does launch, there is a potential that Face ID could still end up being more superior. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but like we said it’s probably too early to start speculating about the Galaxy S10, but we’ll keep our eyes and ears peeled for more potential information.

Samsung Unveils New PRO Endurance MicroSD Cards

When it comes to choosing your storage medium, there are certain things that you would have to take into consideration. For example size is the most obvious, but then it starts branching off where there are some users who might require fast read/write speeds, but then there are also some users who might require their storage devices to last them years.

This is where endurance comes into play and where Samsung has announced their latest PRO Endurance microSD cards. According to Samsung, “Designed for consumers and B2B channel customers who use intensive video monitoring applications such as surveillance and security cameras, body cameras and dash cams, the PRO Endurance makes continuous video monitoring fast and stable.”

While it is clear that these microSD cards are not aimed at smartphone users or for consumer cameras, we suppose they can still be used if the endurance feature is something that you think you might need. Samsung is boasting that their new microSD cards will offer 25 times higher endurance compared to speed-focused cards, as well as a five-year warranty.

It is also water, temperature, magnetic, and x-ray-proof, with read and write speeds of up to 100 MB/s and 30 MB/s respectively. As for pricing, the PRO Endurance microSD cards will be priced starting at $89.99 for 128GB, $44.99 for 64GB and $24.99 for 32GB.
