Latest Steam Beta Adds Support For Nintendo Switch’s Pro Controller

Thinking of using your Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on your PC? If you are, you’ll be pleased to learn that Valve has recently updated its Steam Client Beta where support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has been added, which means that you will be able to use it for playing games on Steam.

According to the post on the Steam website, “Greetings from the Steam Controller team. We’re pleased to announce that the latest Steam Client Beta adds support for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. We think it is a great device with a feature set that pairs nicely with your Steam catalog. The d-pad is ideal for fighting games and platformers and the gyro enhances aim in your action/FPS titles.”

Setting up the Pro Controller seems to be relatively straightforward. Users will first need to opt into the Steam Client Beta and then enable support once they’ve opted in. They will then need to pair their controller with their computer and register it to their Steam account. Valve is suggesting that users calibrate the gyroscope in their controller by selecting the “Calibrate” option.

Once that’s all done, you’re good to go! However this feature is only limited to the Steam Client Beta right now, so if you’d rather not join the beta then we guess you’ll have to wait until the feature makes it to the main Steam Client.

DC Universe Streaming Service Has Been Officially Announced

Come 2019, Disney is expected to launch their own streaming service that is expected to include Marvel shows. However it looks like DC might be one step earlier as the company has officially announced DC Universe, its upcoming streaming service that should not be confused with the DC Extended Universe.

For those unfamiliar, back in 2017 DC announced plans for their own streaming service and now it looks like it has an official name and website. According to DC, “DC Universe is a first-of-its kind, immersive digital experience designed just for DC fans. One of the many incredible things your membership will include is unlimited access to the following exclusive original series.”

They have also announced four upcoming series based on the DC universe which includes DC Titans. Young Justice Outsiders, Harley Quinn, and Swamp Thing in which Aquaman director James Wan will be serving as its executive producer. It is expected to premiere in 2019 but whether or not it will launch ahead of Disney’s own streaming service remains to be seen.

In terms of what else has been planned it is unclear, and there was also no mention of how much the service could cost, but we expect that additional details will be revealed ahead of the official release.

Apple Watch Credited With Saving This New Yorker’s Life

Recently it was reported that an Apple Watch played a role in saving the life of a teen where an alert of an abnormally high heart rate resulted in the teen being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Now it looks like we have another report where the Apple Watch has been credited with saving the life of a 32-year New Yorker.

The man in question, William Monzidelis, was working at his family’s bowling alley business when he suddenly felt dizzy and had to go to the bathroom where he started bleeding. His Apple Watch then alerted him that he should seek medical attention, at which point he asked his mother, Nancy, to take him immediately to the hospital.

Along the way to the hospital, Monzidelis said he was seizing in the car and bleeding all over the place, from his mouth and his rectum, where upon reaching the hospital it was estimated that he might have lost about 80% of his blood. Upon arrival he was diagnosed as having an erupted ulcer and had to first receive a blood transfusion before he could be operated upon.

According to his doctors, had he not paid attention to the notification on his Apple Watch, there was a good chance he might not have survived as up until that point, he was a relatively healthy individual and might have otherwise ignored those symptoms.
