We have come to a point where regular home routers are no longer sufficient for, well, homes. Increased Internet use, multiple devices, and nontrivial room layouts require nontrivial equipment. That’s were WiFi meshes come in, expanding and extending your home network to accommodate all your browsing, streaming, and gaming needs. The latest to join that growing market is Linksys, who … Continue reading

They both keep us up to date on our friends’ random outbursts as well as remind us of an important appointment. Recently there was a report that indicated that Apple could be looking to launch a news subscription service. This report followed Apple’s acquisition of the Texture app/subscription service which was dubbed the Netflix of magazines where for a fixed price, users could read as many magazines as they wanted.
Now according to a report from The Guardian (via 9to5Mac), it seems that Apple could be looking to further their news/magazine efforts by acquiring Conde Nast, who for those unfamiliar is the publisher behind many famous magazines and online publications, such as The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, ArsTechnica, and more.
The report claims that Apple could be looking to acquire in part or possibly all of the publisher, although according to Conde Nast CEO Bob Sauerberg, he was quoted as telling the New York Post, “We are not for sale.” However in theory, Apple acquiring Conde Nast would greatly boost their news and publication efforts as it would effectively give them more control over what kind of magazines and news outlets they can feature in their service without having to go through a publisher and giving them a cut.
In any case it’s probably best to take this report with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information in the near future.
