After foldable displays, it seems that the next Galaxy phone feature no one can seem to agree on is the in-display fingerprint scanner, a.k.a. fingerprint on display (FOD). It has been rumored, expected, and debunked launch after launch since last year and now it seems that the feature is again pushed back to 2019. That seems to be the implication … Continue reading
Cars used to be a vehicle that got us from point A to point B, but these days in our increasingly connected world, even our cars need to get onto the internet for all kinds of purposes, whether it be to pull navigation information, music, traffic updates, and more. This is a feature that Tesla has been offering in its cars for several years now, but now it looks like they’ll be attempting to monetize that feature.
In a report from Electrek, it has been revealed that Tesla is planning on introducing what they are calling a “Premium Connectivity” package option for its customers. What this does is that it will provide car owners with an internet connection that will allow them to show satellite maps along with live traffic visualization, music streaming, and more.
It is unclear what the pricing of this premium package will be, but Electrek has heard that it will be around $100 a year. Now this isn’t to say that if you don’t want to pay for it your car will lose all connectivity. There will be the “Standard Connectivity” option that will still provide internet to your car, except that it will be somewhat limited to features that require low amounts of data, which would be basic navigation.
This means that you won’t be able to access some of the perks that those who paid for the Premium package have. The good news is that for customers who purchased a Tesla before the 1st of July won’t have to pay for internet, and that this only applies to customers who purchase a Tesla after that time period.

For those unfamiliar with hacking terms, brute force attacks are basically as its name implies, an attack that focuses purely on “force” where in hopes that the system will eventually give way after numerous hacking attempts. This usually happens in the case of passwords where the hacker will throw all kinds of password combinations until the right one is found.
Recently there was a brief scare for iOS users where Matthew Hickey, co-founder of security firm Hacker House claimed that iOS was susceptible to a brute force attacks. However thankfully it seems that might not be the case as in a statement made to AppleInsider, the company said, “The recent report about a passcode bypass on iPhone was in error, and a result of incorrect testing.”
Basically Hickey had initially suggested that there was an exploit that allowed the hacker to send passcodes over Lightning to a locked iPhone. This will be sent as one consecutive string without spaces and would contain all possible combinations from 0000 to 9999, or 000000 to 999999. This method was said to be able to bypass delays in between incorrect passcode attempts.
That being said, Hickey has since followed up with an update in which he admits that maybe the hack would not have functioned as he had initially thought, so for now iOS users can rest assured that that particular hacking method is not possible.

Like most (or all) devices with screens, there comes a time when they might get scratched, and this is why screen protectors continue to be very popular accessories. However in the case of the Apple Watch, it seems that one owner, a 21-year old Dean Lubaki from Canada, decided that the scratches on his device warranted a lawsuit against Apple.
In particular it seems that Lubaki took offense to Apple’s marketing campaign for the Apple Watch, in which they called the device “brilliantly scratch-resistant”. This is because according to Lubaki, he felt that the watch is anything but scratch-resistant and is actually rather susceptible to scratches.
He points of the magnetic milanese loop band which ironically enough was what caused the scratches. “The fact that the back of the Apple Watch attracts the Loop and creates abrasion without action for the consumer is a design flaw. Same abrasion can occur on the screen when the strap is removed to change straps. Again, nowhere Apple says that the loop may damage the watch.”
He attempted to get a replacement at his Apple Store but was denied despite having purchased AppleCare. That was when he decided to go after Apple in a small claims court where he was seeking a refund for his Apple Watch Edition and AppleCare+ purchases, along with compensatory and punitive damages for “mental stress, and expenses that occurred because of the case in addition to the time of my life wasted that I will never get back.” Apple has since offered Lubaki a replacement plus a free accessory, but he has refused the offer.
