Samsung May Launch Gear S4 And Galaxy Tab S4 This September

Recent reports have suggested that Samsung has a couple of new products in the pipeline, the Gear S4 and the Galaxy Tab S4. Some have claimed that at least one of these products may be launched with the Galaxy Note 9 that’s due to be unveiled in August. However, the latest whispers from the street suggest that the Gear S4 and the Galaxy Tab S4 may not be launched in August.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed at this point in time when it intends to launch the Galaxy Note 9 but rumor has it that the company is looking at August 9th as the potential launch date for its new flagship smartphone. If history is any indication, the Galaxy Note 9 event will take place in New York City.

Word on the street is that neither of the two aforementioned devices will be launched alongside the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung is expected to launch them in September instead. This suggests that the company is likely going to utilize the IFA 2018 stage in order to launch its new smartwatch and tablet. IFA 2018 is going to take place at the start of September.

Samsung has a presence at IFA every year so it’s within the realm of possibility that the company will launch its new smartwatch and tablet at the event, even though it hasn’t confirmed anything about that at this point.

Former Sony Head Claims Fortnite Cross-Play Blocked Due To ‘Money’

Fornite was launched on the Nintendo Switch recently and PlayStation 4 owners don’t get progression sync or cross-play with the console, much like how it is with the Xbox One. The block prevents the player from carrying over their progress, purchases, and skins from Fortnite on PlayStation 4 to either console. Joe Smedley, the former boss of Sony Online Entertainment, claims that the block is due to “money.”

Fortnite players on PlayStation 4 can’t use their account when they play the game on any other console. Which means they need to make another account with separate purchases, progress, and skins for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, both of which place no such bar on their players.

Smedley tweeted that when he was at Sony, the stated reason for blocking cross-play was internally stated to be money, that Sony “didn’t like someone buying something on an Xbox and it being used on a Playstation.”

Sony hasn’t responded to this at this point in time and its response to the recent backlash concerning the Fortnite block didn’t really do much to address fans’ concerns. It seems unlikely at this point in time that Sony will change its decision regarding cross-play and progress sync ban between the PlayStation 4 and other consoles.

Amazon Launches Special Version Of Alexa For Hotels

If you rely on Alexa too much for getting stuff done daily then you won’t have to worry about life without Alexa when you’re traveling being Amazon is bringing its virtual private assistant to hotels. Amazon has announced the launch of a new version of its assistant called Alexa for Hospitality that it’s going to seed to select chain hotels and vacation rentals initially. The idea is to automate some of the service options for guests using the digital assistant.

The properties that get Alexa for Hospitality will be able to offer the guest key information about their stay and the various services offered by the hotel, control smart devices in the room such as thermostats, and even schedule services like housekeeping and room service with just voice commands.

Marriott, a global hotel chain, is Amazon’s launch partner for this initiative and given the sheer number of properties that this brand has across the globe, it’s evident that Alexa will soon be available in thousands of hotel rooms across the country.

Amazon is currently offering the system by invitation so it remains to see which other hospitality providers are added to the mix. The Alexa experience installed in hotels will be customized for each particular property and will be powered by devices like the Echo Dot, Echo, and Echo Plus.

The company says that Marriott will introduce this experience at select properties in Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels & Resorts, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Aloft Hotels, and Autograph Collection Hotels from this summer.
