Snapchat lets third-party apps use its AR camera, Bitmoji and more

Snap is bringing the walls of its closed gardens tumbling down, as it’s opened up a rumored developer platform to let third-party creators use Snapchat features in other apps, and bring their own tools to Snapchat. Off the bat, that means you’ll star…

Telltale Developing A Game Based On Netflix’s Stranger Things

Telltale has delivered some great episodic games so far, including Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, so it won’t be surprising for many of its fans to hear that it has decided to produce a new series based on Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things. Netflix has also confirmed that the Stranger Things project is in the works over at Telltale Games.

The confirmation of a Stranger Things game follows a recent deal between Telltale Games and Netflix which brings Minecraft: Story Mode to the streaming service. Netflix has confirmed that the Stranger Things project is separate from this deal so it may not be immediately released on the streaming service.

Telltale Games has said in a statement that it’s developing a game based on Stranger Things that it’s going to publish to “consoles and computers at a later date.” It hasn’t shared anything else about the new series at this point in time but promises to provide more details about it later this year.

A report claims that the series, set in the Stranger Things universe, was supposed to be launched alongside season 2 of the show but was postponed. It’s unclear as yet when this new game may be launched.

Snapchat’s Camera And Bitmoji Will Be Available In Other Apps

Snap, the company behind Snapchat, today announced the launch of its Snap Kit. It’s a developer kit which will enable app developers to bring features from Snapchat into their own apps. The features that will soon be available in other apps include Snapchat’s camera and Bitmoji. Developers will have four different ways of integrating Snapchat features into their apps.

They can use the Creative Kit to integrate their custom filters, stickers, and links into Snapchat Camera. The Bitmoji Kit will bring users’ personalized Snapchat avatars to other apps. Tinder is actually one of the first apps to use this feature, enabling users to send Bitmoji in messages with their prospects.

They will also be able to use Story Kit to enable their apps to search and embed stories submitted to the public Our Story feed. Last but not the least, developers can also allow their users to log in with their Snapchat credentials. If they integrate this option, they will only get the user’s display name and optionally their Bitmoji avatar as well. Snap will not share any personally identifiable information with the developers such as location, gender, and age.

The company has built-in an additional protection for users. If they connect to an app but don’t use it for 90 days, Snap Kit will automatically disconnect from that app. Developers will only be approved for Snap Kit after an application process and human review. Only major brands have been allowed initially, they include Pandora, Poshmark, Eventbrite, and others.

Verizon Launches Third Unlimited Plan Today

Verizon already offers two “unlimited” plans to subscribers and it has launched another one today called Above Unlimited. None of these unlimited plans offer as much data as users want, but the new plan does offer the most amount of data that they can get before they start to get throttled. Users are throttled on these unlimited plans “in times of congestion” until their monthly data allotment is reset.

The Above Unlimited plan that Verizon has launched today costs $95 per month for a single line and provides 75GB of data. Users will be throttled after this hit this cap or 20GB if they’re using it as a hot spot.

The price is $10 more than the Beyond Unlimited plan which provides subscribers with 22GB of data and 15GB of hot spot usage. The basic Go Unlimited plan is $20 cheaper and while it doesn’t seem to have a cap, it does throttle video to 480p quality and limits hot spot speeds to 600Kbps.

Verizon users who tend to use a lot of mobile data per month will be happy that the company now offers even more for a higher price, but at least they don’t have to make do with throttled speeds for the rest of their cycle when they do hit the upper cap.

The carrier also announced today that families on unlimited plans can have different versions of the plan on different devices so they no longer need to have the same service option on every line. Verizon’s Above Unlimited plan will be available to subscribers starting June 18th.

KiiPix instant picture printer

kiipixThe primary camera that we use these days to capture our favorite memories wherever we go would be the smartphone camera. However, when it comes to archiving all of those snapped photos, not too many of us have the habit of constantly transferring and categorizing these photos in their proper place. Why not take the opportunity to actually print them out wherever you are? TOMY has come up with the KiiPix, which is an affordable instant picture printer that is able to roll out retro-stylized photos from just about any smartphone.

The KiiPix will be introduced later this month across a dozen countries worldwide, including, but not limited to, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. There are also plans for the KiiPix to be marketed in different countries across Asia down the road. With the KiiPix, you will be able to create vintage-inspired printed photos, being able to transport treasured images from the digital world into the physical realm.

Using the KiiPix is all too easy, where you simply need to capture, print, and share your favorite memories. Even better yet is the fact that the KiiPix does not need to run on any batteries, leaving you with one less item to bring around when you are traveling while making it easier to manage your collection of chargers. Neither do you need to hunt for an electric source or power outlet, and there is no additional app to download and install in your smartphone to have it function. All it does is hook up to your smartphone and create vintage-inspired printed photos on the spot. Of course, the film is sold separately, with the KiiPix being accompanied by a sticker price tag of $39.99.

This unique device is so simple to use, even a teen can handle it without missing a beat.
