Bitcoin Tumbles After $40 Million Cryptocurrency Hack

It’s not uncommon for cryptocurrency exchanges to get hacked and the losses often run into tens of millions of dollars. Whenever something like this happens, the bitcoin price tends to take a hit as a result and that’s precisely what has happened after Coinrail, an exchange based in South Korea confirmed that it was hacked and that hackers made off with $40 million worth of tokens and altcoins.

Bitcoin’s price has subsequently taken a hit and has been hovering above its two-month low of $6,500 today. Some of you might already be aware that Bitcoin has lost over 50 percent of its value over the past few months after it hit a peak of $19,000 late last year.

Coinrail’s official statement on the matter didn’t reveal how the hack took place but it confirmed that hackers stole more than $40 million worth of tokens and altcoins. The stolen coins and tokens include NPER, NPXS, and ATX. The exchange is now looking into the targeted system and says that all of the coins that were exposed have been successfully frozen while other cryptocurrencies are stored in a cold wallet right now.

Local media reports suggest that the police have begun an investigation into the hack with a spokesperson confirming that “We secured the access history of Coinrail servers and we are in the process of analysing them.”

Ford And Postmates Showcase Autonomous Delivery Vans

Autonomous driving technology will do more than just free us from driving our own cars. It will also transform many industries in the process and the logistics industry will certainly be one of them. Ford has shown us a glimpse of that future as part of its new partnership with delivery startup Postmates. They’re testing an autonomous on-demand delivery pilot program in Miami and Miami Beach, Florida with some 70 businesses.

The idea here is to have a fleet of self-driving delivery vehicles on the road that can deliver anything from food to hardware, which is what Postmates already does right now but with humans being an essential part of the process.

The pilot will enable the companies to see how businesses and customers will interact with self-driving delivery cars. Employees will receive an access code to put the items inside the car while the customer will get a text message with an access code when their order is ready for pickup. Ford is also experimenting with vehicle designs that include multiple lockers so that these cars can serve multiple customers on the same route.

“Through our collaboration with Postmates, we’re testing different methods for efficient deliveries to help local businesses expand their reach and provide a seamless experience to customers,” Ford says.

The company expects to put its purpose-built autonomous cars on roads by 2021.

Snapchat Clear Chats Feature Lets You Delete Messages

Snapchat users will soon get access to a new feature that the company has announced today. The feature is called Clear Chats and as the name suggests, it will let them get rid of their messages even if they have been viewed or saved by the recipient. This will essentially enable Snapchat users to retract a message after they have sent it or just delete it to fix an issue like a typo before sending another one. This feature will be available for messages that users have sent in individual and group chats.

Snapchat has confirmed today that the Clear Chats feature will enable users to delete messages they have sent in individual and group chats even after they have been viewed or saved by the recipient.

Users who want to delete a message will first have to open the conversation where the particular message that they want to retract was sent. They can then long press on the message and tap on Delete. This also works for media sent in the conversation such as video, audio, stickers, etc. Once they tap on Delete, the message or media will be deleted and the recipient will be alerted that the particular message was deleted.

If the recipient or anyone in the group chat hasn’t viewed the message then that won’t be required. This feature won’t be able to delete screenshots that the recipient might have taken or if they simply took a photo of the device’s display using another smartphone so as always, it’s always best to exercise caution when sending sensitive stuff online.
