Microsoft didn’t have much success with the original Xbox in Japan, but it did manage to create a few games by local developers that were coveted by fans of the platform. The mech game Metal Wolf Chaos made by From Software (Dark Souls) was one of th…
The past couple of months have no doubt be a very trying time for Chinese company ZTE, where they were hit with a ban from sourcing components from US companies. This almost resulted in the company being forced to shut down as it crippled its operations majorly, but as you might have heard, ZTE managed to work out a deal with the US government.
This involved paying a $1 billion fine, $400 million in escrow against future fines, and was also given 30-days to overhaul its executive team. They also had to work with a US government-selected compliance team to ensure that this doesn’t happen again, something that White House trade adviser Peter Navarro had warned the company about.
Speaking to Fox, Navarro was quoted as saying, “It’s going to be three strikes you’re out on ZTE. If they do one more additional thing, they will be shut down.” Navarro also claimed that the deal was a gesture to help build goodwill with China. “The President did this as a personal favor to the president of China as a way of showing some good will for bigger efforts such as the one here in Singapore.”
There is no doubt that ZTE is clearly on very, very thin ice and it remains to be seen if they will be able to stay on the good side of the US government.

Bethesda’s reboot of one of the most sacred icons of the gaming world was, fortunately for the company, met with success. Updating Doom’s gore and action to modern standards had a few hiccups but mostly passed the usually scathing critiques of gamers. Of course, it was never enough. But while the DOOM reboot was much talked about prior to its … Continue reading

If there is a reason why some Android manufacturers choose to the lock the bootloaders on their devices, it would be to prevent outside code from being flashed onto the handset, which in theory should keep the device secure. Unfortunately a gate is only as secure as its lock, which in the case of the OnePlus 6 was found out not to be the case.
In a vulnerability discovered by XDA member zx2c4 (via Android Police) who is also a security researcher named Jason Donenfeld and president of Edge Security, it seems that the bootloader has a vulnerability that allows anyone to load up codes onto it, even if it was locked. This vulnerability has since been confirmed by the folks at Android Police.
The semi-good news is that this vulnerability would require the attacker to have full access to your device physically, which means that as long as your phone is with you at all times, you should in theory be safe from this particular threat. However since no one wants to baby their phones all the time, a fix is ultimately the best way to address this, something that OnePlus has promised.
In a statement made to Android Police, the company has promised that a fix is on its way. “We take security seriously at OnePlus. We are in contact with the security researcher, and a software update will be rolling out shortly.”

Ahead of E3 2018, it was speculated that Capcom could announce Devil May Cry 5 at the event. This was due to a domain that was registered. For those who have enjoyed the Devil May Cry franchise, the good news is that it looks like the latest title in the franchise has since been officially announced.
According to the announcement, Devil May Cry 5 will be a “true follow-up” to Devil May Cry 4 which was released way back in 2008, so it’s not surprising that fans have been waiting a very, very long time for the game. This means that unlike the spin-offs, this will pretty much pick up where the previous game left off and will see the return of the original characters and storylines.
“Years have passed since the events of Devil May Cry 4, and a lot has happened. Young demon hunter Nero has lost his Devil Bringer demon arm… but hey! He’s now heading his own branch of the demon-hunting business Devil May Cry. To make up for that lost arm, and keep his style rankings up, he’s enlisted the help of expert craftswoman Nico, a brand new character in the series, to lend a hand and build different types of prosthetic arms that unlock new badass combat abilities and devastating powers.”
Devil May Cry 5 is currently set for a release in the spring of 2019 where it will be available for the Xbox One, PS4, and the PC. We expect that specific release dates will most likely come at a later date.
