LG G8 ThinQ May Feature 4K Display

It’s not surprising that the rumor mill has started focusing on the next LG G series flagship given that the LG G7 ThinQ is already out. That being said, it’s still far too early to be sure about anything related to the LG G8 at this point in time so it would be best to take all rumors related to the handset with a grain of salt for now.

LG isn’t due to unveil the G8 ThinQ until next year so it’s going to be a while before we hear something officially from the company about this device. This also means that we will be hearing a lot of rumors and reports about this device in the months to come.

The latest suggests that the LG G8 ThinQ is going to ditch the Quad HD displays that we have been seeing on LG’s flagships for the past few years in favor of a 4K resolution display. It may still be an LCD panel but the move to a higher-resolution display would enable the company to maintain parity with its rivals, particularly Samsung, which is expected to introduce its 4K AMOLED display with the Galaxy S10 next year.

As previously mentioned, though, it’s still soon to be sure about the LG G8 ThinQ at this point in time so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.

Battlefield V Battle Royale Mode Confirmed

Battle royale titles have become quite popular over the past few months as evidenced by the strong community that games such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite enjoy. It was therefore unsurprising to hear that Battlefield V may get a battle royale mode as well and that has now been officially confirmed by EA. Battlefield V will indeed feature the popular gaming mode.

EA confirmed during its EA Play show at E3 over the weekend that Battlefield V will feature a battle royale mode. It didn’t offer a lot of details about the game mode and how the mode will conduct things but at least it answered a question that was on everyone’s minds.

EA says that the mode in Battlefield 5 has been “reimagined with the core pillars of destruction, team play, and vehicles,” adding that the royale mode in this title will be unlike anything players have experienced before.

That doesn’t really confirm if the developers’ have put their own spin on the battle royale mode for Battlefield 5 or if it’s merely jumping on the bandwagon and will be similar to what players have already experienced with the titles mentioned above.

Battlefield fans will surely be interested in finding this out but they will have to wait until later this year because that’s when EA says it will talk more about this.

J.J. Abrams Expands Into Gaming With Tencent

Famed director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that he’s expanding his media production company Bad Robot into games in partnership with Tencent, a tech conglomerate based in China. The company will be called Bad Robot Games and will extend its expertise in film to developers of both indie and AAA games.

“I’m a massive games fan, and increasingly envious of the amazing tools developers get to work with, and the worlds they get to play in,” Abrams said in a statement, adding that this unique co-development approach to game making will enable the company to focus more on what it does best and then become a “meaningful multiplier” to its developer partners.

Bad Robot’s visual artists, designers, and writers will work with developers to create games for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. Tencent’s role will likely be to provide funding and access in return for commercial rights to distribute the games.

No further details have been provided at this point in time so it’s unclear what’s going to be the first project of Bad Robot Games and which development partner will it work on its first title with.

It’s possible that we may get some of these days during E3 2018 next week.

Fb.gg Is Facebook’s Own Video Streaming Hub

Video game streaming is quite popular these days and millions of people spend more than a few hours every week to watch other people play games. Services like Twitch already exist to cater to those gamers and even YouTube has added a game streaming component. It has been possible to stream games to Facebook as well and now the social network wants a bigger piece of the pie which is why it has launched Fb.gg, it’s very own game streaming hub.

Facebook users will find a collection of all of the video games streaming on Facebook at Fb.gg which will surface videos based on the games that they follow on Facebook as well as their preferred game streaming celebrities. Facebook will also take into account their Page likes and Groups when surfacing the videos. Fb.gg will also highlight featured creators, esports competitions, and gaming events.

A gaming hub of this sort allows Facebook to put all gaming content in one place to ensure that it doesn’t get lost in users’ News Feed which can tend to be quite packed. The personalization aspect will also help bring in more people as they will see videos that they actually want to see.

The idea behind this would likely be to enable game streamers to build their audiences on Facebook as well with the hope that they will start streaming more on Facebook directly when that happens.
