It was revealed even before the handset was announced that the OnePlus 6 would be available in a white hue. Those who don’t want to pick up the device in a darker hue will now be delighted to find out that the OnePlus 6 is going to be available in Silk White this week. This is a limited edition color option, though, so those who want to pick one up should definitely hurry once it goes on sale.
OnePlus has achieved the Silk White hue by using a pearl powder in the coating to provide a shimmering and shining effect. The frosted look is achieved by applying six layers of coating all of which is protected with Gorilla Glass 5.
Nothing else is different about the device except the color so those who have already purchased a OnePlus 6 need not feel left out. It has the same specifications and features as the other color options.
What customers should keep in mind is that OnePlus has confirmed that this color option will only be available for a limited time. It’s going to go on sale starting tomorrow at oneplus.com. It has been a long wait for Galaxy Tab S3 owners in the United States who have been looking forward to get a taste of Oreo on their tablet. Samsung first released the Oreo update for this device in the United Kingdom several weeks ago and only recently started rolling out the update for users in the United States. Its carrier partners in the country will soon release it for the cellular variant as well, something which Verizon has now taken the lead on.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S3 in the United States back in the spring of last year and at that point in time, it came with Nougat out of the box. It’s still running Nougat and is finally being upgraded to Oreo.
Verizon is finally rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy Tab S3 on its network. It’s sending out software version R16NW.T827VVRU1BRD4 for the Galaxy Tab S3 in phases so it should go live for all users in the near future.
The latest firmware update for the Galaxy Tab S3 brings all of the features that are part and parcel of the Oreo update as well as the Samsung Experience 9.0 custom skin which brings the same user interface enhancements that Samsung debuted with the Galaxy S9 earlier this year.

A new Nokia-branded smartphone is now said to be in the pipeline which is reportedly going to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip for mid-range devices. HMD Global is the company that now makes Nokia-branded smartphones and it’s said to be working on a new smartphone codenamed “Phoenix” that it’s likely going to launch by the fall this year. Qualcomm recently announced its Snapdragon 710 mobile platform which it has developed to bring premium features to affordable devices.
Built on the 10nm process technology, the Snapdragon 710 has custom Kryo 360 CPU cores in a 2+6 configuration with two high performance 2.2GHz CPUs and six smaller 1.7GHz cores focused on energy efficiency. It also features Adreno 616 graphics, Hexagon 685 DSP, Spectra 250 dual ISP, and Aqstic Audio. Qualcomm’s X15 LTE modem is part of this new platform as well.
The report mentions that HMD Global is thinking of launching this device in autumn/winter this year. It’s unclear what this device might be called, it could be launched as a “Plus” variant of an existing device but that’s just pure speculation at this point in time.
It’s not the only company believed to be working on a new smartphone based on the Snapdragon 710 platform. Google is expected to be developing an affordable Snapdragon 710-based Pixel smartphone that it may launch early next year.
