Nintendo Switch Could Eventually Get Its Own Monster Hunter Game

Fans of Capcom’s Monster Hunter must have been pretty excited when Monster Hunter: World was announced as it represented a brand new title in the franchise. However Nintendo Switch gamers must have been disappointed when Capcom said that the game would not be coming to the console.

Instead Switch gamers were given Monster Hunter XX as it is essentially a version of Monster Hunter Generations that was originally developed for the 3DS. For those who might have felt a bit “cheated”, not to worry as it seems that Capcom could still be planning a Switch version of Monster Hunter, according to a tweet by @koudaiseidaos (via Siliconera)

The tweet references a Q&A session held by Capcom at the company’s 39th shareholders meeting, where they reiterated that Monster Hunter World on the Switch was not possible due to system limitations, but they stated that there was a possibility that the Switch could get its own Monster Hunter title in the future. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, but we suppose it is still somewhat good news.

Also it is interesting that they would mention system limitations because if you recall, Capcom launched Resident Evil 7 for the Switch where the game was streamable through the cloud, meaning that it bypasses some of the limitations of the hardware, so we’re not sure why they couldn’t do this with Monster Hunter: World.

Sony Reportedly Developing Spider-Man Spin-Off Movie ‘Silk’

Sony currently holds the movie rights to the Spider-Man franchise and it seems that the company is really milking it for all its worth. Not only has the movie series been rebooted twice, but later this year we are also expected to be treated to a Venom movie, but apparently that’s not all.

In a report from Deadline, word has it that Sony and producer Amy Pascal are reportedly planning to develop a Spider-Man spin-off movie “Silk”, who for those unfamiliar is another superhero from the Spider-Man franchise where she is also known as Cindy Moon. Her backstory is similar to Peter Parker where she was also bitten by a radioactive spider and also gained powers similar to Spider-Man.

This is an interesting development if true, although we have to wonder how this will play into Sony’s current lineup. As it stands many are already curious as to how the Venom movie will fit into the MCU. While Sony has the rights to Spider-Man, they did work together with Marvel for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which also allowed the character to appear in other MCU movies like Avengers: Infinity War.

So if Sony does move forward with this movie, does it mean that we can expect Silk to be part of the MCU for future movies, or will she exist separate from the MCU? We guess we’ll have to wait and see as Sony is keeping mum for now.
