No Plans To Bring Older Wolfenstein Titles Onto Nintendo Switch

As you might have heard, Wolfenstein II will be launching on the Nintendo Switch later this week. This is great news for fans of Wolfenstein who would love to be able to play the game on the console. However if you were hoping to see older Wolfenstein games arrive for the Switch, you’ll be disappointed to learn that won’t be happening.

Speaking to GameSpot, Adam Creighton, studio head at developer Panic Button said that there are no plans to bring older titles to the Switch. For those unfamiliar, Panic Button is the developer that will be porting the game to the Switch. However according to Creighton, it’s not their decision as that will be up to Bethesda, the game’s publisher.

He said, “That’s a Bethesda discussion, honestly. It’s [up to] them and Nintendo as to what would work for the platform. I think it’ll be interesting to see how [The New Colossus is] received right after it launches at the end of the month and what Bethesda does from there.” So far Bethesda has been a very ardent supporter of the Switch.

The company has launched quite a few titles for the platform which includes Skyrim, DOOM, and more recently Fallout Shelter. That being said, Creighton has a point in which the decision for older Wolfenstein titles will probably have to do with how well this release does before Bethesda commits more resources to the ports.

Arena Of Valor Will Launch On The Nintendo Switch This Fall

While battle royale style games are currently the trend, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that MOBA games are still just as popular, if not more so. We’re talking about games like League of Legends, DotA 2, Mobile Legends, and more. The good news for Nintendo Switch gamers who want to play a MOBA on their consoles, Arena of Valor will be the title to look forward to.

The game has been announced for the Switch and is currently scheduled for a release this fall. The game is currently in closed beta on the console and so far initial reviews have been pretty positive. In case you’re not familiar with Arena of Valor, this is a MOBA that is popular in markets such as China.

It has since found its way to the US and is said to be one of the highest grossing games on the app store to date, even finding some success as an eSports title. It has also managed to nab some interesting partnerships with DC where we’ve seen characters such as Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Joker, and Superman make their appearance in the game.

The final release on the Switch will provide gamers with access to the full roster of characters, but unfortunately it seems that there are no plans for cross-play between mobile and Switch gamers for now.

Oh, the things I would do to get this cardboard-style Nintendo Switch

Nintendo is building on its strange but wonderful cardboard Labo platform with some sweet Mario Kart integration and a truly fabulous limited edition Switch with a faux-cardboard finish. It really is just the greatest thing and I would do terrible things to have it. Unfortunately some smart kid will probably get it, because you have to win it by designing something cool with Labo.

So, first the Mario Kart stuff. If you have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch, and you really should because it’s excellent, you can now use the Toy-Con (buildable with the Labo Variety Kit) as a sort of real-world controller. You twist the right “handlebar” to accelerate and rotate the whole thing to turn.

This is the first game to get its own special Labo support, but the company says more are on the way. Splatoon 2, perhaps?

If you’re a creative type and you have a Labo set, you’re in luck. There are two new contests you can enter, and entry puts you in the running to win the amazing neutral-colored Switch shown up top. I really don’t know why I love it so much, but I do. And if you do too, you should enter. (If you’re in the U.S. or Canada. Sorry, world.)

The first challenge is to create a musical instrument with the Toy-Con pieces and “craft materials.” You’ll have to document its creation and show it working on video; it’ll be judged on “Quality, Creativity, Spirit, and Sound.” Caps Nintendo’s.

The second challenge is to create a game or game-like experience using Toy-Con Garage. Same judgment categories as before, minus Sound.

There will be one grand prize winner and four runners up per contest. Grand prize is that amazing Switch (approximate retail value $1,000?!), plus a cool (?) Labo jacket. Runners up get a pair of cardboard style Joy-Cons and a jacket. Respectable.

If you’ve been looking for a reason to pick up that Labo kit again or use some random pieces you never tried, this is surely that reason. Now get to work!

Galaxy S10 triple cameras to come in a special model

Unless you’re looking to upgrade to a stylus-toting phone from a 2016 flagship phone, you might want to skip the Galaxy Note 9 this year. That’s because the Galaxy S10 is shaping up to be quite the rebel, at least as far as rumors are concerned. As Samsung’s tenth anniversary smartphone, it is expected to be spectacular, even extravagant, just … Continue reading

iPads Are Apparently Bad For Your Neck

Image credit – R. Marsh Starks/UNLV Creative Services

There have been some studies in the past that have shown that using your smartphone too much can be bad for your neck. This is because of the stress and pressure you put on your neck while staring down at your phone, which during prolonged usage is actually quite bad for you.

As it turns out smartphones aren’t alone in this. A recently published paper has revealed that iPads are also bad for your neck, according to researchers at the University of Nevada where the affliction has been referred to as “iPad neck”. According to the study, it has been found that this seems to affect those who are younger versus those who are older, and apparently it is more than twice as likely to affect females compared to males.

According to physical therapy professor Szu-Ping Lee and lead author of the paper, “Such high prevalence of neck and shoulder symptoms, especially among the younger populations, presents a substantial burden to society.” The findings aren’t that surprising when you consider that the usage of tablets does differ from phones, where tablets might be more used for watching videos for extended periods of time due to the fact that it has a larger screen, versus phones which are smaller.

As to what can be done about this? We suppose there’s really not much to do except to maybe get yourself some good support, like a good chair or maybe prop up the tablet at a comfortable level. Alternatively you could also try reducing the amount of time you spend on it, something that Apple is trying to do with digital wellness features introduced in iOS 12.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Updated With Nintendo Labo Support

The Nintendo Labo kits were officially unveiled earlier this year and it seemed a bit like a niche product. However if you were thinking whether or not the Labo will be worth your investment, you might be interested to learn that Nintendo has recently updated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to make it compatible with the Labo.

What does this mean? In the video above, basically you will be able to create accessories that you can use to enhance your Mario Kart experience. In the demonstration Nintendo created a steering wheel in which gamers can use to control their karts in the game. It is actually a rather clever setup and it does look like it would make the game more immersive.

That being said, this is actually not the first time we’ve seen the Labo used as a steering wheel. A couple of months ago an inventor created a steering wheel with the Labo and the Switch console that allowed a person in an electric wheelchair to control it. We’re not sure if there are plans to bring Labo support to more games in the future, but like we said the integration with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a clever one.

We wouldn’t be surprised if like the Amiibo, we will start seeing more games supported in the future so perhaps the Labo kits could be worth looking into.

Square Enix Admits Final Fantasy VII Remake Was Announced Too Early

The Final Fantasy VII remake was announced back in 2015 and now fast forward 3 years later, we still don’t have anything to look forward to. The game’s producer Tetsuya Nomura has reassured fans that the game is in development but when exactly we can expect its release is anyone’s guess.

This means that fans could still end up waiting about 4-5 years at the very least. However it seems that this wait could have felt “shorter” had Square Enix chosen to announce the game at a later date, something that Nomura himself had admitted. Speaking to Multiplayer (via Stevivor), Nomura was quoted as saying, “I am aware that we announced it very early, but in the industry, word was starting to spread that we were working on the game, so we decided to stop keeping it a secret and to reveal it officially.”

We suppose it is possible that Square Enix wanted to avoid a situation where they’d have to deal with endless rumors and speculation over the next few years, something that Valve has been dealing with regarding rumors about Half-Life 3. Unfortunately this still doesn’t tell us when the game will be released, but like we said, chances are we’ll see it in 2019 at the earliest, although some reports are claiming that it could be in 2020 or even later. Either way gamers will just have to remain patient until then.
